Speech- The dictionary explanation of speech is “The expression of or the ability to express thoughts and feelings by articulate sounds” or “A person's style of speaking” Speaking is physically being able to produce sounds and sound patterns of our own language (mine being English) from our voices, or to be able to produce speech with a familiar rhythm.

Different use of grammar can change the way the sentences conveys to another person when communicating. Semantics- semantics means to have an understanding that words can be used in different ways and can also have different and a wider use of meanings than just the one use. We can often take these skills for granted, if we are lucky enough to have no delays in these areas, but many children can unfortunately find it hard and struggle to communicate too another person and are not able to talk or understand as we expect them to do so at their ages, which can leave them feel left out and frustrated. They have speech, language and communication needs or SLCN.
