To provide some background, the Southern Poverty Law Center, or the SPLC was originally was founded in the U.S. in 1971 nearly 30 years ago, and is still here today. It is an American nonprofit legal advocacy organization specializing, in civil rights and public interest litigation. Working to ”… fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.”(SPLC) Of the two images one picture depicts revolution, while another displays peace among different races and ethnicities. These images created by the Southern Poverty Law Center do not effectively use rhetorical appeals such as ethos, logos, and pathos on their website to gain support of the American citizens or reflect their goals of changing the United States.
