Greek and Chinese Mythology

There are comic myths in every culture. One major subject that is in every culture is the explanation of how the world became to be. Many myths sound familiar while others are nothing alike. Greek and Chinese mythology of how the world become to be are very different. Both myths tells how man and the world become to be however, created differently.

Myths of how the mankind and the world
In Greek Mythology, Gaia is the earth goddess who was created from a void. The earth goddess given birth to the sky and named Uranus. Uranus and Gaia ruled the world together and had many children. Gaia and Uranus created gods, goddess, and horrible monsters, however, Kronos and Rhea created the first race of men. In Chinese Mythology, the creator of the earth was a large male dragon, known as Pan-gu. He created the earth shapes by stomping and clawing the soil to form rivers, mountains, the sky and plants. .Nuwa, who was a half female goddess, was the creator of humans. She was part combined with of yin and yang and had a dragon tail, but decide to make humans with legs instead of tails.

Similarities and Differences There are very little similarities between Greek and Chinese mythology. The only common elements in the two myths are the theme of how man was made and that the world started out of chaos. Other than that the theme of each myths are different in every way. Greek myth mentioned that Gaia was born out of nowhere thus creating earth. In Chinese myth there was an egg full of chaos and then Pan-gu broke out of it. In Greek myth, there are fights between gods and goddess and the remake after remake of men. In Chinese myth, Pan-gu was the sole creator of the earth and Nuwa created humans.
The Value of Myths As humans we are always looking for more answers to how the universe was created, why we were made, or how did we get here. We also are scared of the unknown and the unanswered questions. Myths gives us a piece of mind, educate, and
