Imagine: you’re chewing your fresh new piece of green mint bubble gum. But then your teacher tells everyone in the class they aren’t allowed to chew gum because one person is being too distracting with their gum. Everyone has probably had gum at least once in their life. So why shouldn’t students be allowed to chew gum in school? Kids should be allowed to chew gum in school because it helps kids focus and deal with stress. One thing that is beneficial from gum is that it can help you focus. According to pressdemocrat.com, it states “Chewing gum helps your memory improve and it also helps you focus while you’re studying” (Norvell 1).This shows that when your chewing gum not only are you improving your memory you’re focusing on studying more easily. Also according to pressdemocrat.com, it states “Gum has been scientifically proven to help kids focus better and to improve their memory” (Norvell 1). Kids like to play with their gum sometimes. Other times chew loudly like cows eating grass. Or even just the sound of a bubble popping. However, if kids chew gum responsibly and use it to relax then gum wouldn’t be a problem in class. According to pressdemocratic.com “The simple chewing motion can help you relax when taking a test in school” (Norvell 1). As you can see that because of the chewing motion you’re more likely to relax. Also according to pressdemocratic.com “Gum might help you relax when studying before a test” (Norvell 1) This shows that chewing gum while studying can help you relax before a test. As you can see, this is why kids should be allowed to chew gum in school. Kids should be allowed to chew gum in school. Some may argue that chewing gum in school is distracting, but the good outweighs the bad. They help kids focus and relieve stress instead.
