Homework: How It Can Be Improved
The populace was taught that if students did their homework, they would execute superbly at school, so why do students not complete their homework? It has been proven that homework helps exercise the brain to help us remember what was taught in class, and people who do not complete their homework simply fail. Homework can lead to issues and can cause students to in fact, not benefit from homework whatsoever. Not only that, but students also begin to experience other health issues as well. While homework can jeopardize how a student performs during school, the practice of doing homework is still important so students still need it. It may have shown that homework supports learning and builds responsibility outside of school, but homework can be harmful in behalf of students who experience health issues along the way and not all students are improving academically through it. Homework is perceived as a burden to utmost people considering people view it as a waste of time that only builds stress. However is it legitimately a waste of time? While it would be beneficial in some ways if teachers simply stopped assigning the students homework, it sadly will never happen. If any person were to ask any teacher to stop assigning homework, they will most likely laugh right in front of you. People may believe that students are all better off not having homework, but it does help academically. Homework helps build working habits and responsibilities to help better prepare us for the work force. Universities across the state have shown that doing homework helps the brain refresh and remember what was taught at school.

When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.
Even though students need to learn how to manage their time more efficiently, including budgeting your time to complete an assessment, they should not be required to do homework. Homework is a big waste of time and isn't efficient. To begin with, homework is causing insane stress for students today. When you get 30 minutes of homework from each class, that is 3 hours of homework! That leaves you no time for family dinners, game night, hanging out with friends, going to youth group or church, or activities like art, music, soccer, and maybe even feeding the homeless.

Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is a waste and kids and teens should choose whether they want to do their homework for extra credit and practice or not.

Unfortunately, it’s even worse when students have extracurricular activities, studying, and etc. The final nail in the coffin is when school is already hectic enough and some students feel like collapsing on the bed. Next, is why I think homework should still be assigned. My first reason is that homework overall is helpful and can help us practice and master topic we’re currently learning. Homework should be banned from schools due to the excessive workload, it puts on to students. We shouldn’t have homework since we already have seven hours of school a day. We need to get exercise and go outside since it is crucial to our health. Also if we didn’t have homework we could spend more time with our family.
