What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of cellphones in schools? Is it a slacker in the back of the room texting their friend? Well, it seems like the future for this idea of phones in school involves kids using their phones as clickers, interacting with SMARTboards, etc. Cell phones can be used as a learning tool, as a safety tool to contact parents/officials, and teaches students responsibility. Most people think that phones are primary used for social media or texting. But there are thousands of learning apps on the App Store and Google Play. Some examples of what phones can be used for are; to conduct quick surveys; use internet for research and let students connect with interactive boards, and hundreds of more things. If phones were allowed in schools, kids could text their parents if they needed something, or to tell them they’re safe.
