My short term goals involve graduating from high school in the top ten percent of my class, getting accepted into the University of Mississippi, and gaining life management skills. My long term goals involve gaining my Bachelor's, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees, adopting or fostering children, and early retirement. Graduating from high school in the top ten percent will increase my chances of getting accepted into The University of Mississippi, where I will earn my Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering. After that I plan to earn my Masters in business administration from Texas A&M, then I will work on my Doctoral degree from Duke University or Vanderbilt Medical in an undecided field. We often hear about people adopting and being on waiting list for years to adopt, but what we do not hear or fail realize is that those parents, on waiting list, are waiting to adopt babies. Most children, by the age of 10, are at the undesirable age, parents believe the children cannot truly be theirs, because the child is aware they are not his or her birth parents, this treatment makes them feel unappreciated and they lose their self-worth. Once they reach eighteen these children are thrown to the world with no job and little education, some without high school diplomas. Then they go and have children, whom they cannot support or often are unaware about how to take care of them and push their children off into the foster system and the cycle continues. The foster system is being abused and is growing larger every year because of this. The only way to solve or manage this problem in America would be to fund more programs to educate these young people in both school and in life. They will then be able to get and keep jobs and continue their education. I plan to both foster and adopt children to do my share in getting people out of the system before its too late and to help them understand their importance in the
