Shelby Cobra: The Supernova of the 1960s At the time the Shelby Cobra was made, it was one of the fastest cars in the 60s, going at speeds of 200 mph at the maximum. The Cobra also had a very unique style to the vehicle, with a curved front with a 90 degree curve and arched back made the car very unique to the rest of the 1960s cars. The Shelby Cobra is possibly the most special car with it’s unique visual appearance and model, fast top speeds, and it’s very unique, one of a kind, engine. One interesting thing about my topic that the 1963 Shelby Cobra was one of the fastest cars back in the 1960s, going up to 200 mph (Daniels 1). The Shelby Cobra had a very special design to it, making it different than the rest of the cars in the 60s(Daniels 1). Also, since the most popular car was the Mustang for sure, the Shelby Cobra was the most unique with different designs and speeds (Dolwitz 5). Races were still big for most people and Shelby Cobras appeared very rarely because people were afraid they’d ruin their Cobra(Howard 3). But when Cobras appeared, they won big: winning 5 races in just a matter of 2 years(Ovein 7). Like what the paper stated before, the engine and wheels made this possible(Roberts 2). A very infamous race in 1965 when a Shelby Cobra and a Mustang were competing to see who would take home the gold(Cobra vs. Mustang 2). They were both bumper to bumper and it was close(Cobra vs. Mustang 2). But when everyone thought it would be a tie, the Shelby Cobra accelerated fast and just got ahead the Mustang and won the race(Cobra vs. Mustang 2).
