“Sexual harassment is harassment involving the making of unwanted sexual advances or obscene remarks” (sexual harassment). It can happen to men and women by men or women. It causes a lot of distress and even emotional scarring on people. Ignoring and not doing anything worsens the situation and creates a sexual harassment rich environment. Sexual harassment has become more prominent in schools. Schools have a safe and educational environment that students feel comfortable in, especially in college. Sexual harassment in colleges guarantees that students will feel unsafe and have loss of educational opportunities showing that colleges need better ways of handling sexual harassment on campus. The students will not feel like nothing will change if they report because the school will give them an outlet for what has happened. “Classes should include both male and female students so they gain an understanding of each other's perceptions” (Schwartz). Having both males and females in the same class for sexual harassment is important because everyone will get an understanding of how sexual harassment affects both sides. The females will understand why males think sexual harassment would be acceptable and males will understand the damage their actions have on another human being and vise versa. “A majority of students, including more women than men, report that they have taken some type of action when they were concerned about a peer” (Goldberg). Teaching students about sexual harassment does work according to this quote. It has influenced students to help out other peers when concerned they might have had sexual harassment encounters. Educating students on the seriousness of sexual harassment helps students understand the wrongness of it and helps them take action when faced with
