Self-Assessment Reflection
Strengths as a writer are the ability to write with passion and truth with a personal perspective. My challenges as a writer have been the getting started part with focus and discipline it takes for expression. English being the first language in speech for some, but in perspective writing it is a foreign concept with challenges. The writing of thoughts to visualize on paper is like a blind person writing what he/she cannot see. Blinders block visionary thoughts and imagination to come alive in a lover's lane of passion. The killing of a spirit in the soul for expression words to soar and fly freely without the cutting of a wing. A writer's passion blocked without doors to open and close with no artistic view. Writing was always a hindrance throughout my education path.
Based on feedback from the co-worker (Principal) and college instructors the feedback was of the lack of skills in

Types of writing accustomed to without the thought of style and grammatical usage is the area of poetry. The area of interest is poetry, love letters, and short t stories to name a few. Poetry is the passion of words the writer writes without the worries of errors and how the style flows. Love letters and short stories for own viewing purposes are other writing done in the past. Love letters are also of expressions of emotions and feeling expressed from person to person without style. Furthermore, love letters and poetry are in the same area of emotional collaboration of writing what a person what say or do to a person of interest without the thought of writing style. Short stories are the imaginative thoughts or dreams that are written either by 1st, 2nd or 3rd party as written. My first loves without judgment and criticism are the writing styles done in the
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
This assessment score surprised me for I feel that I am very tolerant and adapt well to change, but maybe, as I get older, I resistance change because I have found principles and ideas that work well to achieve success and see change as only undermining what is already working (McShane & Von Glinow, 2016, p. 429). McShane & Von Glinow (2016, p. 428) says that “constructive communication” can overcome resistance. This statement is directed at management, but I plan on using this same advice to overcome my own resistance to change from management. Changes are occurring in my department and some role realignment is going to take place, as this occurs, I agree with McShane & Von Glinow (2016, p. 434) that this change will cause me additional stress, of course, now that I know this I can actions to prevent it. An article written by John MacArthur’s says that the Apostle Paul when faced with pressure still reserved “room in his heart to feel the anxiety of other” (MacArthur, 2012), so when thinking of change, instead of just seeing it as something that is stressing me out, I need to realize that others are probably going thought the same emotions and symptomize with them other, for MacArthur also says that, “Anyone who knows and loves Jesus Christ is capable of handling pressure like that” (MacArthur, 2012). I also need to remember that God is in control and no matter what changes occur God will see me through it (Matthew 6:26). By managing change better, will make me a
As a counselor in training, there are many skills that I still need to improve. Being able to work with actual clients broaden my view of counseling. Clients would discuss experiences that are unexpected to the counselor, and counselors need to be ready at any moment. It is fascinating for me to learn that although clients might be experiencing similar difficulties such as anxiety or depression, each client has a unique story behind them. Although I encounter some difficulties working with clients, being able to apply the skills that we learned in actual session helps me to further understand how to work with them. In comparison to practicing with colleagues, working with actual clients helps me have a better sense of how to better interact with them. Other than that, I was able to experience how clients would react to counselors’ comments or questions. It is important to learn that clients do not always respond the way that the counselor wants them to.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
During my initial self-evaluation and assessment of me as a perspective counselor, self- awareness was an essential aspect of becoming an effective counselor. I am aware of certain things that can prevent me from becoming a competent counselor such as being unaware of my strengths and weaknesses. As a current community support worker, I have already had the opportunity to work with individuals who require different levels of support. Providing assistance to the specific population has given me the chance to utilize my communication skills. My work experience has also allowed me to be more self-aware, and open minded. After taking the techniques of counseling class I am more than confident that I have grown professionally since the beginning
A weakness of mine when writing is I often lack a hook or having an interesting opening and closing sentence, I feel my sentences get too wordy and my sentences lack vivid detailing. Sometimes organizing my written paper can also be a weakness of mine, especially when there is an essay that asks to compare and contrast. Thinking how I want to start an introductory paragraph and thesis statement is where I have the most trouble and sometimes can be challenging to me. Some strengths I have is that I often try to have a variety of different words so they aren 't overused and using a strong vocabulary. Lastly, another strength I have is I can gather a lot of information and write about a vast amount of topics.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
College students are very impressionable when it comes to how to act in the workplace. In high school we develop habits, like how to study and how to write properly, but we are not fully prepared to go into the working field. The self-assessments, provided by Professor Whitten, gave students a chance to know what they need to improve or maintain. Also, it allowed us to explore our values, opportunities, and strengths, something that I have never done before. Although some of my self-assessments gave me results that I expected, they revealed many things about myself that were surprising. Based on my self-assessments I am an ethical person that enjoys a diversified workplace. I have many strengths such as internal locus control and handling facts, however, I have opportunities such
This paper is a self-reflection essay, with the aim of discovering the authors personality, feelings and thoughts. These issues are reflecting on the skills, models and tools the author have learned in the lessons and during a further research of extra literature in the topic of coaching. First, there is an introduction part of the authors personality and things she has learned about herself. These noticed discoveries are built up on and written based on the results, which were investigated by using the theories of MBTI personality, Belbin test, conformist or non-conformist in a team, Johari window, defensive or receptive behavior, listening skills, etc.
In the beginning, in my take home essay I myself will be tackling my understanding plus my assessment of my communication competence. Moreover the criteria will be applied in the direction of assessing myself as a competent communicator along with the individuals surrounding my life. My evaluation of myself in the group activity on the Crocodile River. Which in the group activity I myself will be evaluating my communication. In addition the criteria and my understanding and evaluation will all be tackled in this take home essay that is a roller coaster of my communication.
Writing about my personal strengths is a challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my character. However, to attack my weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that need some redefining of certain skills to make greatest success in life. My life is not defined by weaknesses, but more so the makeup of my personal strengths.
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
Personal Effectiveness is using all of our potential resources in order to achieve both work and life goals. It is when we use all our personal resources at our disposal-talent, skills, time in order to get what we want in life. In everyday life we put so much effort to get what we want to achieve in life. We spend a large amount of our time and energy. In this world many people are working towards achieving the same goal with different costs. This is because everyone has different personal effectiveness.
