NEH should conduct an external and internal analysis known as a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). SWOT analysis is a strategic measure designed to help identify or pinpoint strategic plans that are deserving of pursuit in growing an organization or protecting its standing strengths (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). The SWOT analysis brings into focus the internal capabilities, the external threats, and market opportunities (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). It does this by incorporating the market assessment, the mission, vision, and value statements, and the organizational assessment to gather data and formulate strategic plans (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). One of the reasons the ACA was designed was to decrease emergency room stress associated with frequent visits (Armour, 2013). Therefore, there may be a decrease in the demand for personnel within the ER. As the ACA tries to make health care more accessible, fewer patients may visit the ER as they acquire primary physicians rather than going to the ER for treatment and medication. In addition, patient visits in areas of care at hospital treatment centers for the prevalent ailments prone to that population may decrease as patients better manage their treatment through covered health care and consistent adherence to doctor …show more content…

These relationships benefit both parties as the customer seeks the organization for products and services and as the organization provides quality products and services to the customer. Therefore, my initial plan of marketing strategy would be to understand the targeted population. The targeted population consists of those formerly uninsured clientele that are now insured under the ACA and patients with existing pre-conditions that used to be locked out of insurance coverage, but are now insured. This may be a challenging group to target as many probably do not have access to the mass marketing engines such as the Internet, social media, and web sites. Therefore, many of the marketing strategies will utilize people force such as physician referrals and patient experiences and testimonials to communicate the new coverage and services at the hospital, which are better than NEH’s competitors. Also, there would be a heavy emphasis on internal and external publications such as pamphlets, billboards and advisements through mechanisms such as public transportation and social services. The usage of multimedia such as radio stations and television commercials would be another marketing
