With the advancement of new technology, more students enroll in an online course. Alexander Spring’s post, Online Learning: The Ruin Of Education, argues negative aspects of learning through the internet. He introduces his argument with a brief flashback to his seventh science teacher. Spring wrote his discussion based off of his own opportunity. In his argument, he said this about his experience, “I had the horrific opportunity to experience online learning for a few weeks.” Then, he discusses the unfavorable characteristics of internet education. Some of the aspects he talked about included social problems, time management complications, and the diminishment of the inborn curiosity of students. Online learning possesses many positive advantages. Contrary to Spring’s claim about social complications and skills in which he states they, “are also detrimental,” certain online schools offer students the possibility to get involved with other students and the society. Internet schools can encourage students by permitting the formation of a mission team or simply by instructing them to have effective communication skills with others their age. “Students are often given the entire term to complete all the material,” Spring said about how online schools teach time management. Contrary to this common belief, certain online schools maintain a strict due date. For example, The Potter’s School requires students to submit their assignments before class. K12, another online school, does not have an overly strict submission date, but it does require students to complete all of the material in the time it provides (General). By having strict deadlines for when the homework needs completion, online school, like regular education, teach its students to learn necessary time management
