The RIBA plan of work is published by the Royal Institute of British Architects and illustrates the roles of all contributors to the projects design and construction. The plan splits work into 7 different project stages. These stages are primarily used for scheduling and is ideal when identifying what time payments should be made or what roles and responsibilities each party participating in the project should have. A project like the Community sports hall is likely to follow such guidelines to ensure the correct measures are being taken.
RIBA came under criticism due to the belief that the plan of work was too architect focussed and RIBA was overlooking many of the client’s requirements. Tender documentation usually includes the Bill of Quantities, a works schedule and plan and any drawings made up by the consultants. At this stage tenders can be submitted by contractors.
