Section 1. Introduction The term protection can either be very specific, or very ambiguous in its definition. Globally, many countries have signed onto multiple international treaties and have taken part in both government run and non-government run organizations that function to protect certain populations. Some of the most vulnerable populations that exist globally are groups who have been forced to flee their homes and countries of origin, such as asylee, displaced persons, and refugees.
