How does a wound repair itself? These questions have triggered my interest in biological science and motivated me to be a part of the health sciences’ field. I am a 27-year-old graduate in dentistry hailing from a small city in India. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (BDS), a four-year undergraduate course, followed by a one-year rotatory internship from the Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad, India. During my 1-year dental practice after college, I felt that although I love interacting and treating patients this is not something that I want to do for the rest of my life, as I want to contribute more in the field of primary healthcare. Therefore, I took a two-year gap to make sure that I chose the right graduate program for me to continue my education. After conducting a significant amount of research about the field of public health, I realized my sense of belonging to this field. The field of public health in India is not that developed.
