In today’s world with technology and information so readily available it can sometimes be difficult to tell what information is factual and what is questionable. Answering simple questions may become more troublesome or demanding when you have to brave numerous resources to conclude which resources have validity and which do not. To show this I conducted research from a valid and a non-valid source to try to answer a question in hopes of improving my mother’s way of life. My mother has had with psoriasis for as long as I can remember. I am a witness to her constant struggle due towith the pain and recurring inflation which is why I would like to answer the question; what is the best treatment for psoriasis?

This can result in dry, itchy, and inflamed skin which can cause major discomfort. While there is no cure for psoriasis there are various treatments depending on the severity of the patient’s inflammation and discomfort. These treatments try to slow down the growth of skin cells and can be categorized into three groups: topical treatments, light therapy, and systemic medications. Topical treatments are the most common and consist of anti-inflammatory creams that you apply to the inflamed skin. Long-term use of these creams can cause them to lose their effectiveness. Light Therapy, also known as phototherapy, exposes the skin to natural or artificial ultraviolet light. For example, when you expose your skins to small amounts of the UV rays in it can help psoriasis because the T cells in the skin due help reducing reduce inflammation. Other phototherapy treatments include Narrow band UVB therapy which involves multiple sessions per week; but this treatment could cause long lasting effects such as burns. Treatments such as the Excimer laser, a form of light therapy, have been able to direct a controlled amount of UVB light to a predetermined area of the skin; but has also been known to have side effects including blistering and redness of the skin. Each patient effected by psoriasis is different and is treated individually as such. Doctors tend to want to start with the milder treatments such as the topical creams or phototherapy that we discussed previously. For severe cases doctors may resort to oral or injected medications. These are to be used as a last resort and for small periods of time due to the severity of the side
