He was one of the brilliant minds of the 19th century whose extraordinary inventions like the invention of electric bulb, phonograph and so many others which improved the living status of human beings Thomas Edison. He was born in Milan Ohio on February 1847. He started to show interests in discovering new things when he was just a child. He quit school after few years because most of the school’s type of learning depended on memorization on the contrary to Edison’s curious and creative mind. He read a lot of books of famous scientists at his early child hood influenced by his highly literate father and book loving mother, which contributed for the later coming discoveries and inventions he made. McAuliffe claims that from Edison’s perspective any letdowns made were an achievement which lead to a productive path. She says, ‘“As Israel puts it, "He saw every failure as a success, because it channeled his thinking in a more fruitful direction."’ (McAuliffe 88). This explains that Edison viewed failure as an accomplishment that guides you to a track that has a more productive and successful results. Foster explains that as Edison became more successful at doing things alone or becoming a successful inventor, he was short of people that would tell him if he was doing something wrong. He says, “He became obsessed with doing things alone, a solitary genius. As a result, he lacked peers to tell him when he was wrong, especially since his family-his wife in particular -treated him like a god” (Foster 114). In other words, as Edison started to work alone he became arrogant which resulted in having no one to tell him when he was doing something wrong.
