Popular Culture Response
The term popular-culture was first introduced around the 19th century. Originally, the term was intended to express the difference between educational and cultural influences of the lower-class of society, as opposed to the higher-class culture (Wikipedia 2014). Today, popular culture is commonly referred to as pop-culture and can be defined in many ways. I prefer the Urban Dictionary’s definition of a simple denotation of widely accepted group of practices or customs. Pop-culture changes as new influencers emerge and begin to have an effect on how life is experienced by people in our modern society. I will examine four pop-culture phenomena and discuss their impact on our lives.
The first influential pop-culture changing items is Facebook. Facebook come into existence 10 years ago. This web-based social network has changed the way in which the world connects. With over 400 million people visiting the site each month, it has expanded our network communication capabilities (TCB 2012). Historically, our means of communication has been written letters and telephone conversations placed to family and friends to share life events and exchange information. Facebook has created a portal for instantaneous relations and transfer of information, pictures, events, ideas, and feelings. It is a platform facilitating diverse interactions of like-minded friends and strangers who have a passion from politics to parenting. In many ways, Facebook has united the world.
Next is the iPhone sensation. The iPhone is a smart phone device that has everything packaged into a 4 x 3 inch gadget that fits in your pocket. Unlike the Facebook phenomena, I feel that this device has decreased our social interactions. I notice a l...

...ce. Cultural acceptant is need to conform and strongly steers the decisions of all generations, especially our youth. It was very interesting to take an in-depth look at some of the things that affect our lives. Pop-culture is fascinating and a great subject for research.
