Places of Worship of Roman Catholics and Baptists
The two denominations I am comparing are Roman Catholic and Baptist.
The main feature in a Roman Catholic Church is the altar. Other
features of the Catholic Church are the sacristy, confessional and the
stations of the cross.
The altar is where they offer themselves to God and the sacrifice of
Jesus’ death on Calvary. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice because he is
sinless. At mass the priest blesses the bread and the wine at the
altar and stands behind it facing the people. It is reanacting the
Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples. The priest takes the place
of Jesus and they are his disciples. They file down the church and
receive the bread, either in their hands or their mouth, just before
the altar steps. After, they take a step to the side of the altar and
sometimes have a sip of wine from the chalice. When they say “Amen”
after receiving the bread they are renewing the covenant and they
become fully united with Jesus. They have communion at every Mass.
In a Baptist church they don’t call it an altar they call it a table
this is because there is no sacrifice being offered there. Baptists
have communion about twice every month, once in a morning service and
another in an evening service. The procedure is different for the
Baptist church compared to a Catholic church. The people stay in their
benches and the minister or elders come round and hand the bread to
you. They then bring a tray of tiny glasses round. Each of these is
filled with a small amount of fruit juice; the people take a glass,
drink it and then put the glass back.

anywhere as long as you have the basic requirements. The place of
worship could be kept plain and simple. If there is a problem with the
place i.e. a hole in the roof or a leak, then they should be repaired
as soon as possible so they don’t get worse and cause more problems.
We do need different worship places for different denominations as the
practice is different, so money would have to be spent on building
those. However they don’t need to be so big and fancy.
I think that spending the money on alleviating poverty would be better
because we are going into Gods world and helping others. It shows that
we care about the other people suffering in our family (Gods family)
and it shows we are one whole, even if they live in a different part
of the world.
Jesus’s body is centered in the middle of the altarpiece, positioned in an elegant curve as his lifeless form is removed from the cross. His body is sickly thin, ribs easily visible

When I got to the altar, it was then I was truly amazed at the beauty of this cathedral, and I wondered to myself, if the people outside only saw what was inside, it would make them think twice about throwing their garbage on the sidewalk in front of it. When I walked near the steps of the altar, it looked like the area was made for a king with the carpet, lighting, and all the artwork around it. It really did look like the throne of a king. I could literally feel the holiness of the cathedral once I stepped foot onto the altar. I felt like that the Trinity was in the cathedral at that point, and I also felt like the cathedral was the border for humanity and the divine.
It takes place at the back of the church as it signifies a journey in
If you are hungry, eat at home, so that when you come together, it will not be for your condemnation.” Nevertheless, changes in the practice of the Lord’s Table progressed as Christian faith expanded.
Humans are rational beings that use their intellect to try an achieve some sort of sense of the world, in other words truth. Truth is something that can not be denied as false. Since all humans are not part of the same culture, humanity as a whole does not share the exact notion of what is considered to be true. Humanity tries to achieve or know the truth through various outlets or practices. These different belief systems are understood to have been formed from their specific culture. Obviously, humanity has many different cultures and with that comes many different forms of truth seeking. There is one religion that claims to have the fullness of truth. That religion is the faith of Catholicism which means the Universal Church. Through Jesus Christ the founder and messianic figure of Catholicism, his Bride, the Church claims to unite humanity under the fullness of truth through the succession of Peter and tradition.
The groups of churches that are in communion with the Pope are part of the Catholic Church. There are quite a few individual churches, also known as Rites, which are part of the Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Church are often considered the same thing. Though the two do have many things in common, there are many things that separate them from each other. The Roman Rite and the Eastern Rite are equal, they teach the same faith, and it is the local customs that make them different.
There are various religions around the world, they all have their own types of music, and they are spread throughout the world. Some similar, some drastically different. The religions that I have looked at for this study all have similar characteristics. Yet different the United Methodist, African Methodist Episcopal Church, and Judaism all have ideals in common but throughout their histories have changed and turned into their own separate churches or synagogues with their own ways of worship. That is why I wonder what causes members of these religions to join these ways of worship.
Orthodox Catholics - Orthodox Catholics are the most devout members of the Catholic Church. They adhere to the Church’s teachings rigorously by regularly participating in Church practices and rituals such as attending mass and other catholic ceremonies. They are fully immersed in the institutional life of the Church. Their Catholic identity is publicly manifested in their social, political, and economic life. Their social structure is almost entirely based around the church’s teachings, as well as immersing themselves around people who have the same strong catholic beliefs as themselves. It is likely that if conflict occurred between the Church’s teachings, family, work or social life, that the orthodox members will favour with the church. This was seen during the church’s child abuse scandals in 2009, members of the Catholic Church who didn’t have rigorously strict catholic beliefs tended to move away from the church after the scandals however the orthodox members remained loyal to the church. Orthodox Christians prevailed through Ireland from 1880-1990’s. Now however it is often regarded as just a ‘stereotypical viewpoint of Irish Catholism’ or something that is linked with previous generations. There has been a significant orthodox Catholics have also disappeared from the fields of education, health, and social welfare. DISAGREE ON ISSUES SUCH AS--- PROTESTS.
The Italian Architects of the seventeenth century faced a huge volume of orders to carry out. The most required orders were churches. (Bazin 15) When Urban VIII became pope he asked Bernini to design a baldachino, also known as a canopy, to define the altar area. Bernini built something that was half sculpture and half architecture that had four columns that were very detailed. The columns were designed with spiraling grooves and vines made of bronze. The spiraling and decorative effects were made to symbolize the union of the new and Old Testaments, the vine of the Eucharist climbing the columns of the temple of Solomon. The Eucharist was the Christian ceremony commemorating the Last Supper. The elements of the Ionic and Corinthian orders are at the top of the columns. Angels are along the entablatu...
Catholics and Protestants share a fair amount of fundamental ideas and concepts from the Christian faith, but there are critical differences which continue to make prominent and contrasting differences between their beliefs and practices. Those differences are just as important in defining the religions today as they were during the Protestant Reformation. In the sixteenth century, the Protestant Reformation began and religious leaders such Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, and others that protested against some of the practices and abuses of the Catholic Church. The protest is actually what spawned the name of Protestantism; the root of the word is Protestantism is “protest.” The main purpose for the protests was to reform the church from within; they saw a need for reformation to eliminate the blatant corruption and the abusive practices, such as “indulgences.” But as the years passed by, it became abundantly clear that their movement was unable to coexist with the Rome Catholic ideology, so those with Protestant beliefs/views broke away and organized their own church hierarchy and structures, this purge from Catholicism and new
As Marcos plays the music, just take this time to reflect, the altar is here for you, it’s a powerful place to meet God here with someone!
To begin with, the history of Christian church architecture is, obviously, a highly complex one, but it is important that one understands the evolution of the floor plans of Catholic churches to see how the changing shapes of churches reflects an extended analysis of Catholic belief and practice. According to Cunningham, the architecture of a church building was designed in a certain way and it had a certain
