The Central Features of Infant and Believers Baptism
Baptism has been an important part of Christianity since the earliest
days of the church. Baptism is the first of 7 sacraments in the
Catholic Church. It is the 1st of the 3 sacraments of initiation.
Someone who is baptized becomes a member of the Christian community
and baptism is also a sacrament in many protestant churches. Many
Christian traditions baptise infants. In the Roman Catholic Church
baptism usually takes place within 6 weeks of the child’s birth. The
ceremony takes place in the church and the priest baptises the infant.
It begins with the reception, which takes place at the entrance of the
church. The priest waits at the door and welcomes the baptismal party.
It takes place at the back of the church as it signifies a journey in
faith. The entrance to the church is also the entrance to the faith.
The priest asks three questions to the baptismal party. He asks what
name they give their child and what they want of the church for their
child, they reply “Baptism”. He asks the god- parents if they agree to
help the parents in their duty as Christian parents. And then traces
the sign of the cross on the child’s forehead: the parents and god-
parents do the same. This is a sign of ownership and that the child
now belongs to God and it is also a sign of the saving power of the
crucifixion of Jesus.
The celebration of the word of God includes a number of readings that
stress the importance of this sacrament. One of the following readings
may be read out to highlight the significance and meaning of this
sacrament.

Jesus always welcomed little children and loved them very much by
blessing them and telling off those who wanted to make them go away.
“Let the little children come to me and do not stop them; for it is to
such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” Mark 10: 13-16.
Jesus saw children as an example of what Christians should be like.
The Church should also welcome children and infant baptism is a good
way to do this.
The positions of the stories in the apse show the importance of the figures represented in the images. Christ's placement the center of the apse holding a book with his left hand provides a direct relationship to the Bible. His right hand held up in blessing illustrates his divine power towards the people, who receive the sacrament on the altar below him. Christ is also surrounded by stars, wh...
The structural and technical features of the story point towards a religious epiphany. The title of the story, as well as its eventual subject, that of cathedrals, points inevitably towards divinity. Upon first approaching the story, without reading the first word of the first paragraph, one is already forced into thinking about a religious image. In addition, four of the story’s eleven pages (that amounts to one third of the tale) surround the subject of cathedrals.
But as concerns you, my daughter, who are so dear to me / I would be liable to great blame and reproach / If I were to lead you on the beaten path, / Seeing that your heart is born into virtue.
Religions are broad in their scope of history, beliefs, and rituals, using many systems to support their individual ideologies. Rituals, such as baptism within Christianity and Judaism, are markers for the distinct values and meanings that are associated with specific doctrines, and can be viewed and interpreted in several different ways. Theorists often view religion with different outlooks, classifying the institution as having a social background or a cultural emphasis, such as what Clifford Geertz defined. Geertz focused on the importance of symbols in religion, their cultural perceptions, the meanings that are attributed to the act, and how it relates to the the society’s value systems. By applying his theory about religion as a culture to the baptismal ceremonies in Judaic and Christian religions, the ritual can be viewed as an important cultural symbol, signs of various cultural views, and as a reinforcement of an ethos.

...entrance door and archway, that had and overwhelming impact on me, these over exaggerated entrance doors, were built to awe and act as the gateway to salvation, they succeeded. Upon entering the church, the saints were lined up and down either side of the church and were lustrously painted and adorned, the cathedral with its stained glass also elumeminated the church with bright sunlight that gave the church a peaceful and serene atmosphere. While viewing the church from the outside, you tend to fixate on the towers, and you tend to divert your view skyway. The massive Gothic church, really humbles you, the enormity and size are truly overwhelming. The ornamental gargoyle sculptures placed around and throughout the rooftops of the church, really feel as if they were alive and guarding the church.

It seems apparent that Orthodox Judaism and Southern Baptist would have multiple differences that could easily be picked out at first glance. But when looked at closely these religions have many characteristics in common. Some characteristics these religions have in common are that they are monotheistic and they believe in the same God. Some differences are that they celebrate different holidays and people that follow Orthodox Judaism have limitations on what they can eat. Orthodox Judaism and Southern Baptist will be summarized, then compared and contrasted.
We as parents have become older, and we lived our lives. It is now our Children’s turn to live theirs and hope, as parents, we did most of what we had to do as God had wished us.
Meaning of Baptism The word 'Baptism' comes from the Greek verb 'to immerse' or 'to wash'. Baptism is a Christian ritual or sacrament performed with water by which the baptised person is incorporated into the life and the teachings of Christ, in the context of a Christian church. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ and we are welcomed into the Church. Catholic traditions use specially prepared water for baptism and believe baptism to be a sacrament intended for infant children as well as for adults. [IMAGE] In infant baptism most Church traditions practice sprinklingor pouringof thewater as a mode of baptism, often using a specially constructed bowl to hold the water, a baptismal font.
There are many positive and negative arguments about infant baptism in the Catholic Church. Baptism is a Christian. Baptism is the second biggest sacrament known to Christian religions. Baptism is a Christian sacrament marked by a ritual, which admits the recipient into the Christian community. In the Roman Catholic tradition baptism is celebrated by immersing a persons head with water.
The church external appearance was quite different than other churches that I have seen. It was basically a big white stucco block with a gold dome on top and four decorated spikes on each corner of the building that surrounded the dome. The people of course were all Greek and were very well dressed. Most of the men and boys all wore suits, and If not they had some kind of vest on. I don’t know if this was some kind of rule or tradition, but it mostly seemed as a respect to God. The women all wore the basic dresses, and all the skirts fell down below the knee. Everybody was proper and ordered. As I walked in the church I entered a lobby of some kind. What I saw hear was something like social hour. Everybody was in there. They were all speaking Greek, and I felt as if I was in a family reunion party. The children were all together; the adults talked together and the young adults all were together. The way they all socialize is when someone comes up to say hello, they give each other a kiss on the cheek and a hug. These people are all very close to each other. It seems as if the church is the center of their lives. I admire that trait as well. To enter the auditorium you must enter this little room, which has a piece of garment from St. Constantine and St. Helen. Also there were candles lit. As they walked through this little room they lit a candle and knelt down for a moment to pray, and then touched each garment and made a cross over their chest.
When I was a child I used to be frightened of entering such a place for it seemed so imposing and somewhat dangerous, especially when music was being played. One day, in order to keep a promise I had made, I saw myself forced to enter. It took me quite a while to get the courage to pass through the old oak door, but the moment I stepped in, I realized just how enchanting and breathtaking this building could be. Its fantastic architecture and exquisite frescoes reflect perfectly the unity between this earth and the unseen kingdom of angels in such a manner that one cannot say where one ends and the other begins. The way in which the church was built is also the vivid testimony of a medieval period. Although it is a place that can sometimes be cold and ask for respect it is where prayers are answered and magic is done. An overwhelming feeling of inner harmony takes over you once you enter and God seems much closer. Darkness and light are welded perfectly together creating Redemption’s house. The tower allows you to see the entire town from the smallest river to the biggest building site, offering you its mightiness.
