Physical Therapy Alumni Association (PTAA)

As a student in the University of Texas Health Science Center Doctor of Physical Therapy (UTHSCSA DPT) program I am bestowed with numerous opportunities to accomplish my goals. Previously, I had created a list of objectives I aspired to meet in order to achieve these goals. I believed, at the time, I had covered all areas of importance with regard to my education. However, I had overlooked a key component of the UTHSCSA DPT program that would be instrumental in shaping my knowledge and future role in the profession. This component was the Physical Therapy Alumni Association (PTAA).
The PTAA provides current students a copious amount of unique and education filled experiences throughout their time in this program. One such remarkable experience is the Physical Therapy Olympics. Hosted and run by the PTAA every Spring, this event incorporates both exciting competitions between DPT programs and a job fair with potential employers coming from all over the state. The PTAA invests a great deal of time, effort, and resources into this event and it is because they want to provide all the opportunities they can for the students to be successful. I have not yet had the privilege of volunteering for such an amazing event, but I am incredibly eager to join when the time comes. No matter the path one takes in life, it is crucial to find a way to serve others in the community or society. Integrating this attitude into my future, I plan to always remain an active and involved member in the PTAA. When reflecting back on all the professors and mentors in my life, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without each and every one of them. Therefore, after I graduate and begin practicing as a physical therapist, I will make certain to volunteer my time and resources to the PTAA so I may contribute to the education of the students who
