Job Shadow with Rotert Physical Therapy Ever since I was little I have alway been very intrigued about physical therapy. Just the aspect of working with other people, and knowing I’m doing something to help them, interests me. This year on November 21st, I job shadowed with Rotert Physical Therapy, and it turned out to be everything I expected. Working with the children was the highlight of my shadow; it was everything I expected and more. The location of my shadow was at the Hartford Elementary School. In the friendly environment, everyone welcomed me, and made me feel like one of their everyday coworkers. Once I got there, Rotert and I went back into her work place, full of all different equipment for the students to work with. Debby Compton, a physical therapist who specializes in helping young children, said, “We do a lot of exercise with your own body and Thera-bands, because we can send bands home with people” (“A Day in the Life Of...a Physical Therapist.”) Rotert couldn't emphasis enough how important the bands that the students worked with helped them extremely down the road. They preformed each exercise until they improved, or did it completely right. Now I know everyone is thinking, matching games? How is that helping someone in physical therapy? Well, by making them think, is takes their minds off the exercises they have to do makes them excel even more. Another thing we did was made them throw a ball the right way, with the correct foot. When they would throw it back to us, their balance would be totally off. We then corrected it with other drills, to improve their
