As a Christian educator, it is important and mandatory to build various professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators. Being a teacher and Christian doesn’t come easy, but when it comes to having a relationship with my students I would want to uphold some sort of relationship where there is trust, respect, and being supportive. Students need to feel comfortable around their teacher, but also knows that I am serious about business. That doesn’t just go for my students. It also applies to my fellow co-workers and parents. Parents need to know that as a teacher I am obligated to follow the rules so I expect their children to do the same. Some strategies should be applied and demonstrated in class. In my classroom, I expect to have an open communication with my students so we can better understand one another, and for the students to have an outstanding academic and behavioral performance. As a Christian educator, I expect also high expectations out of my students. I willing to help out and tutor anyone who is needing help with anything because I am not only their teacher but their friend and advisor. I would give positive feedback and help them to succeed as much as possible. My belief in my students will inspire them to succeed, but they would also have to believe in themselves that they can to accomplish their goals. When it comes to being a Christian I can show my actions with daily by showing and telling them I am a believer, that I love my students, and to set a Christian like the example. There may be negative people who don’t believe, but you can still be positive and tell the truth to others and not spread lies. Interacting with parents and involving them in their children’s learning can help their children realize that school is very serious. It may also improve their behavior, attendance, and motivation to work and study. Parents need to know as well that teachers care about their children education as well and we are not here just to teach and get them on their way. A good way to communicate with parents since it plays a big part in the classroom would be parent conferences, emails, and phone calls. Once the parents feel comfortable and know that you there for their children then things should go smoothly with them trusting you being able to teach their child. Parents who also know that you are the believer and guide their children in the right direction will help as well. As the majority of the families being Christians it is important that they know you have their intentions that you can trust them and that you follow in Christ footsteps. Having a teacher-teacher relationship can be a little tricky at times due to some teachers gossiping, jealous, or competitive.
