Is it writing that allows us to be more powerful or is it our words, which allow us to become more connected thus, creating a more resourceful society. It is my personal goal to evaluate both of these ideologies and explain their values.

Writing is essential to our every day lives; it is an extension of our voice which contains our thoughts, goals, and even emotions. However today we don’t spend enough time working with students on their oral and written communication skills as explained by Garry Cosnett in the article “Why Johnny can 't write, and why employers are mad”. It has opened doors for us like never before thus creating a world more connected than ever. In the article “Studies Explore Whether the Internet Makes Students Better Writers” author Josh Keller argues that people of this new age are actually writing more than ever before. “The rise of online media has helped raise a new generation of college students who write far more, and in more-diverse forms, than their predecessors did. But the implications of the shift are hotly debated, both for the future of students ' writing and for the college curriculum.” (Keller) Students are now more connected to their audiences through the mediums, which they write such as Facebook, blogging, tweets, etc. The debate among educators as Keller explains now is trying to find a happy medium between academic writing and writing the students will actually use. Due to the Internet and all of it’s facets we can now share our ideas in written form with the world and get instant feed back. If the writing is done skillfully it can connect the world and make us more resourceful by allowing us the opportunity to share our ideas. The value of this connection is priceless. It makes our society better and forces us to grow because we have a stream of different ideas constantly
