NASA, inspires children to get careers that have to do with engineering and science, which also advances NASA’s exploring. “The space program was launching thousands of jobs in Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Mississippi. And Kennedy saw the space race as a vehicle for integrating the south” (Greene n.pag). In the 60’s, president JFK helped get African American communities integrated into the workplace. Therefore, the space program has a place for generations now and let minorities to be working.

NASA helped usher in a promising new future in the 1960s and it was rewarded with a rapidly-eroding budget. The U.S. should invest more money in NASA and less on unnecessary health care and military. Budget cuts are affecting our technology development. Evidently, increasing NASA’s budget to 1 percent of the federal budget will not hurt the economy. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, better known as NASA has helped further the research that has been done in space. This was accomplished by multiple missions to and from space, with different types of spacecrafts. Although some missions had fatalities, each was a learning experience to advance further in the studies of space.
NASA has been an instrumental force in technology development over the last century. With advancements in computer technology, space exploration, defense management, transportation and health development, the institution has played a major role in driving the government’s agenda to ensure public safety and aid in learning processes. However, in the last few years, the government has reduced the budgetary allocation to NASA, citing harsh economic times. This has seen a reduction in the institution’s capacity to continue aiding the country in managing most of the basic provisions such as health care and national security.

Some may think exploring outer space is simply a human’s curiosity. This is true but on the contrary, people explore to learn about things they may have never known and touch on the essence of the creation of the universe. Another reason for exploring this uncharted area is the technological advancements people have made and immense amount of innovation they have achieved in this field (Wood). Lastly, scientists study the other planets just in case one day humans need to relocate after overwhelming damage has been done to Earth. NASA, during the Space Race, was responsible for creating complex software, computer networks, and communications equipment. All of these technologies are beneficial to our everydays lives today. The healthcare industry has benefited because technologies invented during the Space Race have paved the way for Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology and CAT Scans. Simple, everyday items like cordless tools and smoke detectors were invented and manufactured by NASA for the first time to aid astronauts. Robotic technologies and controllers were needed to assist with spacecraft functions. The Space Race also is responsible for great innovations like water filters. Because of the lack of water in space, the astronauts needed a way to safely recycle their waste water.
Space exploration is very beneficial to humankind because it creates new technologies, it brings different countries together, and gives people a better understanding of our Earth.
