Some people risked their lives to help fight and protect their country. They are more known as Veterans. Veterans are the individuals the nation should respect the most. Several people do not understand the importance of these soldiers. Also we do not apprehend the tragedies they go through. The Veterans are not only essential in the country’s past but to its future.
Veterans play a tremendous role in the freedom of our country. We can be grateful of the veterans for our freedom of speech, freedom of religion etc because they were the ones who fought and are still fighting for those rights. As the years go on, people do not realize how much these soldiers have given up to fight for this country. Even today, these individuals continue to lay their lives on the line. The military is one of the most important jobs. Without the soldiers fighting, the United States would not have the rights and freedoms it has. Veterans are not only important to the past, but to the future as well. With all of the technology we have today fighting in combat is much simpler. If the technologies were disabled, nearly all Veterans would know how to fight without it. The Veterans were ones who fought in wars where technology did not exist or when it was not as popular. Technology has had a vast impact on the way the military fights. If those special devices were taken away, the strategies the military uses for defence would have to be changed. The United States does not know what the future has in store for us. People may believe that Veterans are only significant to the past. This is not true a statement. In the future, Veterans will be able to pass along stories and memories. This gives the upcoming generations factual information about the events that actually happened in war. Hearing the stories from someone who has served is more impact than hearing it from the media. Veterans could influence their listener to join the military. The more soldiers we have fighting for our country the stronger the U.S

When you look into veterans eyes, you can see several things that are important. The pride shines through, the pride of serving ones country, and the dedication to protect other peoples freedom even it if requires paying the ultimate price. These men and women give their lives to give us our freedom. As a one of the many individuals that they are protecting it is vital that we see that pride and appreciate where it comes from.
While soldiers are away from home, many things might change that they aren’t there for, for example, family problems and disasters. In addition, veterans might come home to a whole different world than when they left, and this already makes their lives more challenging to go with these changes. In addition, soldiers might also come back with physical injuries, like a lost limb, or loss of hearing. As a result, this makes everyday tasks much harder than they actually are. America’s veterans should be honored because they have suffered through so many hardships that others could not and have not survived, and they did it for their country that they loved and still love today.

Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
Veterans are a hearty lot. They serve and sacrifice, and having the honor of wearing the uniform is enough thanks for most of them.
The Military draft is the random selection of qualified citizens of the United States, that is put to use when a crisis occurs, like a war. When American citizens reached age 18, they had to sign up for eligibility to be drafted to go to war for their country. Throughout the country’s history, the requirements and limitations of drafting have changed. The draft has been going on since colonial times in America in order to fulfill the country’s military needs when there were not enough volunteer fighters for the military. The total amount of soldiers that one side has fighting for it is an important factor in any type of battle so getting the necessary amount of fighters is crucial. The draft assures everyone that this military need is satisfied at any point in time. Many people feel like the draft is not fair and not “American” and the draft has seen so much conflict since its invention. Throughout the history of the United States, the military draft has been a very important, yet highly controversial topic at the same time.
The purpose of Veterans Day is to honor veterans who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Nevertheless, nobody knows what veterans do or how they feel after separating from the military.
Palm’s biggest fault in his argument is the use of the fallacy generalization. When explaining the five steps in how veterans should be treated, he explains it as though it should be applied to every single veteran in existence. It should be noted that using this fallacy makes sense, because to the audience Palm seems to know what he is talking about when he explaining how veterans should be treated, what they do and do not like about others’ interactions with them and so on. Therefore, it would make sense that he states to “generally” treat all veterans the same. However, because he does so, Palm sometimes fails to address or even acknowledge that not every veteran is the same. It is very possible that there are some veterans who do not mind being thanked for their service by strangers. There may very well be veterans who do not mind answering people’s questions. For some, being thanked or answering questions may even help them to know that there are people who care and appreciate their service. This made it easy for the government to ignore the growing cases of PTSD among Vietnam veterans. It would have benefited veterans to have a support group of other Vietnam Veterans where they could talk to others about their experiences in an understanding environment. The lack of understanding from society leads to veterans not talking about their experiences and keeping their troubles to themselves. The way soldiers return home is another factor in the high cases of PTSD.
It is ALWAYS fitting to remember our military personnel that have died in the defense of this nation. I could NEVER forget it. I rarely talk about my own ventures into the world of combat. In fact, most of us older coots go out of our way to avoid it. Many of us didn’t serve in Vietnam because we felt our nation’s survival was at stake. We did it because, unlike now, the military draft was the law of the land and Vietnam was our “war”… our time to step up and serve, even though Congress never formally declared war. Most of us never thought much about the righteousness of it. It was our duty and we did it.
The United States is an extremely affluent country, however, the U.S. government does not allocate its funds correctly. The government spends entirely too much of the budget on military spending. A segment of the military budget should go towards education. Education is completely undervalued in America and is often pushed to the side in political debates. Conversely, several of the top-ranked countries in education are also flourishing economically. Even though the U.S. is struggling to compete in education, the government has all but given up at this point. There are no signs of increased education spending or a decrease in military spending. The United States has thousands of veterans and many of them suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The care for veterans must be improved. Veteran care needs to be improved because they are not getting the proper care that they need, not receiving credit for their service, and they were willing to pay the ultimate price for freedom, yet people will not pay the price of time to help them.
"The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country” (-General George S. Patton Jr). Here within our borders we are the lucky ones, we have been blessed with the pleasure of so many brave men and women; to volunteer in the world's greatest military; and put their lives on the line for something that they believe is a moral obligation. But, think of some other countries, that have conscription (the practice of ordering people by law to serve in the armed forces) laws. We as a nation have some laws on conscription, and if you are male and above the age of 18 you have already signed the slip of paper stating that in the time of war; if our great nation re-instated the draft then there is a great chance you will be serving on the frontline of the next Great War. This brings me to my first topic of this page, is it ethical to have a draft? My second topic that I will discuss will be on if it is morally acceptable to "draft dodge". What I mean on the second topic is if you have a right; that morally allows you to not go fight in the war.
