Americans. To those families and especially my parents I thank you for understanding and standing with us. This day belongs to you as well.
The hallmark of being a veteran is service and sacrifice. We meet here today to honor and pay tribute to those who have served and those who continue to serve.
They who serve that we may enjoy the best America has to offer; FREEDOM AND PEACE AT HOME. Those who choose to serve in the ranks of our military do so voluntarily. Some first join to help pay for school. Some join in the pursuit of learning a job skill for when they return to the comfort of home and family. Others join because it was their childhood dream to take up the Profession of Arms. But whatever their reason they all volunteered to provide a necessary service to America and in so doing extended that service to the rest of the world. This service is manifested in providing comfort to our own citizens suffering from the devastation of Katrina two years ago to the current events which unfolded in the wild fires in California. They also brought hope and comfort to peoples of other nations such as the people who suffered in the earthquakes in Pakistan and those areas devastated by the tsunami a few years before. From the deadly beaches at Normandy, to jungle warfare in South Vietnam, the vast deserts of Iraq, or the hillsides of Bosnia-Herzegovina ... the American service men and women have contributed the brunt of the force required to provide sanctuary and hope for the weak and oppressed. Those veterans have answered the nations calling and have done and continue to do so proudly.
If service is the calling then sacrifice is the price our veterans must pay for that service. From the time our Soldiers, ...

History records the valor of the American Veteran in terms of units and armies and forces, the role of the American Veteran is the story of each individual who accepted the Call of Duty.

Veterans are a hearty lot. They serve and sacrifice, and having the honor of wearing the uniform is enough thanks for most of them.
But still, speaking here today on behalf of those who have served and those who continue to do so -- active, Reserve or Guard -- your presence here today, for this event, is indeed appreciated. It is appreciated more than you can know.
What does Veterans Day mean? It comes down to one sentence -- one phrase that you can never hear too often in a democracy: Freedom is not free.
“ A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves.” ~Mother Teresa. Servicemen like firefighters, police officers, and military personnel sacrifice their lives every single day. Harriet Tubman made over a dozen trips to the South to help free slaves. Moche’ from the novel Night, went back to his home to warn his friends and family about what was about to happen to them. However, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. How much do people sacrifice? These people risk their lives, freedom, and safety. Not everyone is a selfish person, people like to help other people. That’s just humanity.
As a society we tend to talk a good game and not follow through. Veterans need more than just verbal recognition for their sacrifice, they need help, they need remembrance.
America’s veterans should be honored because they have suffered through so many hardships that others could not and have not survived, and they did it for their country that they loved and still love today.
“A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal political views, that is an honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact.”
As time goes, the understanding of the day has changed as well. Much like the original concept of the Purple Heart being an award given for valor and merit before transitioning later to a medal for wounded service members, Veterans Day originated with the same concept as today’s Memorial Day. What is most important to realize is that regardless of what the true definition means to the observer, the purpose behind the day is to remind us all that people put their lives on the line in support of their countries and their fellow man. Their service, their sacrifice, and their dedication to something greater than themselves is honored across the
The mission statement of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) is, “To fulfill President Lincoln's promise ‘To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan’ by serving and honoring the men and women who are America’s vete...
Hi, everybody. This week, America came together to salute our veterans – to express our appreciation to all who served so that we might live free. But our gratitude should extend beyond what our veterans have done for us in the past. It should remind us of our responsibility to serve them as well as they have served us. It should compel us to keep our veterans central to the ongoing work of this nation.
When you look into veterans eyes, you can see several things that are important. The pride shines through, the pride of serving ones country, and the dedication to protect other peoples freedom even it if requires paying the ultimate price. These men and women give their lives to give us our freedom. As a one of the many individuals that they are protecting it is vital that we see that pride and appreciate where it comes from.
Veterans are very important to our nation's history and future. Without veterans our country would be alot different without them. They help protect us and keep us safe they are our nation history. They are the reason we have laws and safety and the reason we signed the declaration of independence. They are very good people that do a lot for our community. So that is why i feel we need them in everyday life because without them we would not be safe and no one want to be unsafe.
A veteran that died for the sake of Canada's freedom. A veteran that bravely came forward when everyone else backed out to save their lives. A veteran that was once a great father, a supporting son and most importantly a genuine friend. People think that going to war is just signing up for suicide, but all the veterans in the world made a choice. This choice allowed YOU to live safely in a liberated country. The soldiers fought and sacrificed their lives for our happiness, our rights and our freedom. I still remember walking over deceased bodies, over great friends and enemies of mine. Over those innocent people who didn't deserve to die. The sound of mothers' screams when they knew that their children were not going to come back alive, newborns wailing for their parents and the sound of bombs flying over heads of the innocent are still fresh in my mind. I can still see the lives of blameless children flashing before my eyes. Seeing young ones holding newborns, school children with no school and wealthy kids being named as orphans shouldn't be an issue in our world. What did they do? Is going to school and having a family a crime? Just imagine this as your reality while being a soldier. Seeing your family and friends being slaughtered, guiltless children being tortured and risking your life and sanity to go out and brawl for strangers is a veteran's most biggest challenge.
The veterans act as the skin protecting our organs and anything else from falling out, altogether it forms the human. Throughout the human's life there are physical injuries and emotional pain from the wars in our country and outside our country we decided to participate in.Also humans aren’t perfect they make mistakes, but this human is pretty darn close because everyone else wants to be like this human. In America, Veterans Day annually falls on November 11 thanking the Veterans are thanked for their services of the USA. The veterans have made many sacrifices like being away from their families, risking their safety of their lives and their mental wellness to protect ours, the skin has also sacrificed
America has people willing to serve in the Armed Forces to protect my freedom. Veterans are people that protect you. They served in the Armed Force for an extended amount of time. Without veterans, we probably would not even have our ten amendments.
This is what Veterans Day means to me, to honor and thank this who served and sacrificed so much for us. It doesn’t matter if they were medics, officers in combat, or engineers, they all sacrificed and deserve to be recognized for their
Veteran’s day is a reflection of the peace and the warrior culture in the United States. While peace cultures strive for tolerance and positive peace, warrior cultures focus on aggression and domination and this Day demonstrates how both cultures are engrained in the American society.
Selflessness is a quality that isn’t a natural human characteristic. Being able to put others before yourself is noble. Most would say that they would put themselves in danger to save another but acting in that position is a heroic act. The sacrifices that our military service
