There is an ongoing debate over whether or not a dog park would serve the community of Muscantine, Iowa well. One side believes that putting up a dog park will allow dogs to excert their energy into playing. They state that this will result in less agressive behavior. However, the other side believes a dog park is a massive waste of tax payer's money, and that dog owners should build a park on their own, far away on private land. they stated that having a dog park will disrupt people in their homes due to the loud barking. Putting up a dog park is greatly benificial to pet owners and non-petowners alike. With a dog park, dogs will be able to excert all their energy and get tons of exercise outdoors. Also, they will have better attitudes towards other dogs because they have grown accustomed to unfamiliar faces. For non-petowners, this means that dogs will be less aggressive when interacting with strangers, meaning less dog bites, less indoor barking, and even friendlier interactions. …show more content…

They believe that it is just a waste of money and the city should focus its funds on more critical matters. Also, saying that it is unfair for them to have to pay extra taxes for a park that doesn't benefit them at all. Those who might live near the park would have to suffer the loud shouts of the owner along with the dog's barks, meaning possibly less sleep.
