Diets are a short-term fix for a long term problem. They teach deprivation, not how to make healthy food choices. Permanent weight loss is about sustainable changes. Diets are individual, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for the next. What you eat does impact your body and the way it looks, and each person gains and holds weight differently. Looking for a diet that works is hard enough, but finding one that works and that can be maintained is a daunting task. First, instead of looking at it as a diet, look at it as a lifestyle change. This seems obvious to me, but there are people out there who feel they have to follow precise instructions as to what they are allowed to eat in order to succeed. The word diet seems to have a negative connotation to it, it should be lifestyle change, and if you are trying to change the way you eat then you should at least like what you are eating. Your cheat day is for pizza, pasta, and bread. The focus of healthy eating should be to find ways to incorporate your favorite foods into your new way of eating, but making them a lower fat and calorie meal. That comes from how you prepare your food. Fried food obviously has a higher calorie content because you have to account for the grease your food is being cooked in.
