In today’s society, there is a substantial amount of controversy over the topic of hunting. Unfortunately, many people have taken a position of dissent on the topic, but contrary to popular belief, I believe that hunting should continue to be performed.I think hunting has many benefits that go unrecognized by most people. Hunting is a way of life for many people, so outlawing it would not only make us lose culture, but also conservation benefits, economic influence, learning opportunities, and would be detrimental to the health of all hunters around the nation. Contrary to popular belief, hunting is actually a formidable force for conservation. Hunters have many licenses and fees that they must pay in order to participate in their sport. Most of the funds acquired from these licenses and fees are used to fund conservation programs that protect both wildlife and land. Hunting serves as an excellent learning opportunity for many reasons. Hunting provides a natural environment in which to study wildlife behavior and the social hierarchy that occurs in herd animals. Not only is hunting an excellent tool for the study of biology, it also teaches abstract concepts such as ethics. I can personally attest to the teaching potential that hunting has. It is from hunting that I learned about the concepts of pity, conservation, and respect for the land and its inhabitants. Hunting provides a hands-on opportunity to learn in a way that no classroom can imitate. Learning how to clean and butcher your own food is an essential life skill that is frequently taught while hunting.
