In this paper the different dimensions of personality will be studied to see if they directly correlate with a leader 's decision-making skills, company’s overall strategies and the success of companies. Specifically, the personalities of two CEO 's of big corporations will be reviewed to demonstrate whether this is true or not. It is consistently found that personality plays an important role in Leadership and leadership styles. Leaders act and react differently in situations depending on their personality traits. It is also found that when personality affects a leader 's decision-making skills it can also directly affect their success. In the initial year, Sony had a performance of $86,772.27 and Toys R Us had a performance of $13,903. The difference among the two is fairly extreme and this could directly correlate with their personalities and strategies. One thing that the two companies did have in common, was that their performance trajectories were both on a steady decline. Toys R Us including in their strategic plan that they wanted to use a differentiation strategy, which is extremely high-risk. Judging from their numbers this strategy clearly isn 't working for their business. To start off with in year 1 the performance trajectory is much lower than Sony, and their performance is still declining from that low start. Luckily from year 1 to year 5, they only have a loss of about $1,479. Sony on the other hand even though they started off with a higher year 1 trajectory, drop a total of 18,283.77 by year 5. This is a dramatic decrease and also a signal that their current strategic plan isn 't working for them either. Sony tends to use a high cost strategy and this may not be working with the limited amount of products that they wish to now offer. Using the FFM, which is an organization of personality traits that sections them into 5 different dimensions, one can determine a leader 's personality and how they may react in a situation before it occurs. The personality traits of the CEO 's of Toys R Us and Sony were studied to help prove this to be true. Both possessed extremely different personality traits and the performance trajectories of the companies were also extremely different. I believe that one of the personality traits that really stood true in my research was the neurotic trait of Eyler that lead Toys R Us to a sporadic strategic plan and very low performance. Hirai, on the other hand, lacked emotion and commitment which correlates with his focused and simple strategic plan. Both of the CEO 's believed that the work they were doing directly affected their personal outcomes which is why I believe they should be encouraged to change.
