Personal/Professional Goals
As a working adult, I have been inspired to make changed and improved opportunities for the physical and mental well being of others. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. My undergraduate degree has proved itself beneficial at work because my job entails projects in which I work in well-integrated teams. I am, at times, challenged to earnestly maintain my colleagues positive and productive work environment given a variety of personalities. Consequently, the dynamics of our work groups and teams initially piqued my interest in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Equally as important to me is long-term social change,

I’ve worked to achieve a higher education based on my values and personal standards. Equally, if not more importantly, I desire for my son to see his potential because I realize in the long-term, who I am and what I do has far more influence than a teacher or school ever will. My home life, academic pursuits, and work have been a balancing act. What has tilted the scale for me are perseverance, tenacity, and cogency.

There are three quotes that help me achieve balance in these three things. Physicist, Albert Einstein, provided me with guidance, if at times I felt inadequate when he proclaimed, “It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.” His view of perseverance allowed me to realize that finding something that is problematic to unravel is rarely a problem itself. I am willing to research if only to fail in my result and begin again the moment after failure in imagining a plausible solution.
