Personal Narrative: Wellness
When I am not feeling well I find relief and comfort talking to my girlfriend. Occasionally I may think of topics such as my future and particular things I want to achieve and I fluster myself with over exaggerated thought with issues like college and school and people and everything else that's happening at that moment in my life, but talking to my girlfriend allows me to release any anxiety that I may posses created by the persons around me and places order back into my thinking. When I talk, she listens with a glowing understanding and she always suggests ideas that may help solve my problem or piece back together my disarray of thought.
Since the time I began to confide in her about my most personal upsets she has become not only girlfriend but my best friend as well. Being with her allows me to experience a closeness that I have never experienced with anyone. She is the one person that can make me feel better and happier about myself. She helps me forget about problems that don't need to be worried about by just being and talking with her.
To me she is that one very special person that I love. The feeling of love for her is a deep, passionate, caring, understanding, and unconditional love. Ph.D. Shelly Wu of the university of Pennsylvania says that love is an intense feeling for a certain person or thing." In my opinion love is truly indefinable in the sense that I cannot explain or break down the exact way I feel for my girlfriend. I do not disagree that it can be described, but to truly know love is to love and by loving, you will undoubtedly be loved in return. You might not achieve the classical sense of, "that special someone love," but you can find love in friends ...

...her's parents picked my brother and me up and took us to our mother's parents to which I lived up until recently. There are for more descriptions of the lack of wellness people contain that I have encountered but I would have to take up twenty more pages.
I do not consider myself a master of wellness but at the same time I know I am not an apprentice of wellness rather. I now have a better understanding of wellness and how it should and shouldn't be achieved. I suppose the best way to recognize whether or not your succeeding on your road to wellness is to analyze the steps your taking to get there. If your wellness is based on short intervals and long sacrifices that cause harm then your wellness is not the wellness that can be benefiting. If your wellness is based on an over-all benefiting way of life then your have a conceptual image of what you wellness is.
As a generalization of all of the areas of wellness. There are things which I will have to gradually continue working on like being more social and getting rid of fear. Contrastingly there are some suggestions I found that I already do which I can increase the amount of frequency. Doing exercise even a small walk can help you destress by putting your thoughts elsewhere (Chaperon, 2013). I have done this to help which both anxiety and my general happiness and it has proven to be accurate. In conclusion for my health to reach its full potential according to the wellness assessment a lot more confidence with the additional of self-finding and putting myself out there would create excellent overall wellness for myself
What is wellness? “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change and growth” (Health Topic – What is wellness?). To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in wellness?
It’s amazing how a horrific and negative life changing event can encourage and guide you in the path of your future. The end result may not be visible when it first takes place, but the process of a recovery can be extremely educational. You see, I was provided the opportunity of job shadowing firsthand the fields of athletic training and physical therapy due to a knee injury. I believe the majority of people would consider a severely damaged knee a dramatic setback in life. I was able to find the silver lining during the recovery.
The definitions of wellness root all the way back to 2000 B.C with Aristotle. He was the first person to document about wellness as an explanation of health and illness. Whereas Descartes and others saw wellness as more of duality of the mind body, which gave way to current mindset of a more rounded definition of wellness (Myers and Sweeney, 2008). Now, Myers defines wellness as the mind, body and spirit working together to achieve an optimum state of health and wellbeing so that one can live life as full as possible (Myers and Sweeney, 2005). Along with briefly examining a specific model of wellness, its aim and application,
You seem to be living a very meaningful life. You share your experiences modestly, but I know you’ve witnessed indescribable things. I also know you have probably treasured every moment of it; I can’t seem to think of anyone more worthy of a position like yours. This point in your life reminds me of a sweet quote by James Wright. It goes, “Suddenly I realized that if I stepped out of my body I would break into blossom.” That is how I envision the intensity of your
Much of my life, love has been defined by an unexplainable and uncontrollable feeling that burns inside your soul. One that when you look at a person you will just know and the rest will be history. This definition of love I grew up love was also demanding, controlling, dependent, and selfish. But still it was something to be desired and something everyone couldn’t wait to feel. To love
She doesn’t know this, but she changed my life. She was there for me when it seemed like no one else was. When most of my friends were dissolving around me and I just didn’t feel like I could do anything right, she was there, and she made everything seem okay. It didn’t matter that I was inevitably going to graduate with a GPA a tenth of a point lower than I wanted, or that my director told me that he was disappointed in me because I just didn’t seem focused lately, or that my other friends just weren’t talking to me anymore. It didn’t matter because she was there and she made me feel safe. She’s my best friend, and I love her and admire her for so many different reasons.
I remember the year my Highschool team went to the state championship. My team the Kansas City Hawks went up against the twelve time champs The St.Louis Kings. What made them twelve time champs was us. Every time my team went to the championship The Kings met us there. All twelve times The King where the victors. January 25,2024 The Hawks were on a warpath for that Championship.
Since my army career and multiple deployments my ability to show empathy, sympathy and my ability to keep a wall up to everyone has caused more problems than I can count. I lead to my divorce, my inability to maintain a relationship, even with women I do truly care for and trust. It has lead me to live a more solitary lifestyle and that’s not how I want to live. I enjoy companionship and people. I’ve seen the worst of what the world has to offer. My reality has become altered and I feel I always need to protect myself with a wall guarding my emotions. The biggest and most fearful result of this behavior is being alone. No woman can be with a man who can’t convey their emotions, can’t feel empathy and sympathize in the appropriate times. The whole part of being in a relationship is being able to do that. To be able to rely on the other person in times of emotional distress without the fear of their feelings being invalidated. I always think that there is someone out there that has it harder or is worse off. Those aren’t the words a woman wants to hear at 4 in the morning while going through an emotional
In an attempt to improve my health, I decided that for 30 days I would hydrate myself properly and exercise cardiovascularly 3 times a week. Every morning when I woke up, it was my goal to drink a large glass of water (estimated 18 oz) before doing anything else. It was also my goal to drink a large glass of water before every meal. I imagine that many people do not consider poor hydration a serious issue, but being properly hydrated is conducive for more regular body function. A few things that poorly hydrated people suffer, in the short term, are headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. As for exercising cardiovascularly, that is a simple response to the fact that I have high blood pressure. Anything to get my heart pumping is advised, and cardiovascular
If one wants to live an enjoyable, fulfilling life they must know what it truly means to be well. Living a wellness lifestyle means incorporating all aspects of what it takes to flourish as a human being. It goes beyond the health of the physical body and incorporates the important social, emotional, and spiritual factors that play a part in every person’s life in one way or another. Knowing how to act correctly, control our feelings, channel our frustrations, and improve in each dimension of wellness will lead to a satisfactory life. Spiritual, physical, emotional, nutritional, and social wellness define the biggest components of life and thriving in them is vital.
Wellness is defined as “an active life-long process of becoming aware of and making choices to achieve optimal health and a more successful and balanced existence” (Ren et al., 2007). Wellness incorporates the spiritual, emotional and social wellbeing of an individual. When it came to thinking, planning and developing my SMART goal I decided to focus on my physical health as this was an area that I needed to improve the most and would also contribute positively to my spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual and environmental wellbeing aswell. In this reflective essay I will discuss and reflect on this journey. This reflection will include why I decided to focus on this specific SMART goal aswell as how I found the SMART goal journey. I will then discuss my own view on my attitudes for health and wellness and will discuss what a SMART goal is and the importance of them in order to start working towards those goals and to positively change behaviours and habits. This reflection will also include challenges that may be experienced in relation to behaviour change. These may include time management and motivation.
Love is one of those things that means different things to different people. If you would look the word love up in the dictionary, you would find this: “an intense feeling of deep affection.” For some people, love can be purely romantic or even just purely sexual. For others, real love can only exist between family members or between people and a god. For some people, it is felt for your partners, family, pets, or even inanimate objects. None of the people are right or wrong, but I do know one thing, love is very powerful. Love is overused in today's world, people say they love someone because of the way they look or their body. That isn't love. To me, love is the most spectacular, indescribable, deep euphoric
Love, that single feeling which generates the funny sensations in people's stomach, giving them the warm pleasures in their body, causing them to feel joy, and to believe every aspect in their life is right. It causes them to receive an exhilarating, appealing feeling that makes them want to rejoice. Love can be a speeding of their heart, but it can also be nerve-racking. It makes their hearts begin to rapidly pump, making a rapid beat— “ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom”. Attempting to describe love is a rigorous task, but it is possible. However, the easiest detail to describe and understand about love is not so much the feeling of it, but the concept of what it is about. Many people may obtain different views and definitions regarding love, but
For someone in a similar situation as myself, there will have been an abundance of personal scrutiny already undertaken. As a freshman in college, I have had to look at many aspects of myself, then decide and plan accordingly to put myself on a path of success. When speaking of the successes I wish to attain, I believe that being a wholly well person is high on my list of priorities. In discussing the aspects of wellness,
