Personal Narrative: My Horse Mistake

“Mom, you and I both know I’m right,” that is what I was constantly thinking and/or saying to my mom. It was all fun and games at my birthday party that year. I was given a horse flashlight that I did not know would change my whole future. I know that my flashlight has shaped me into the person I am today, because it gave me a reason to remember my third birthday, it gave me something to argue about for a long while, and it showed me that you always might have a chance to be wrong sometimes. I remember my third birthday party like it was yesterday.. All my aunts, uncles and cousins were there. She would always say that my aunt Carledy had given it to me. While I argued that my grandpa had given it to me. I knew that I was right because I was the one who could remember the day so well. A few times our arguments had gotten so out-of-hand that we gave each other the silent treatment. Only for a few hours (if that) but it was still enough to show that we knew we were right and the other was wrong. Many times we said we were going to call my aunt and find out but we never did until one day in September. On September 8, 2017 my mom, sister, and I drove to Blackfoot for the State fair. On the way there my mom and I were having another one of these pointless arguments. This time we were tired of argueing so we decided to ask the source. We called my Aunt Carledy because my grandfather had passed away. Ringg. Ringg. Ringg. Ringg. Ri-”Hey stranger! What is up?” she asked when she answered the phone. “Nothing, but Shea and I need you to settle something for us,”my mom answered. Almost immediately after she finished her sentence the palms of my hands got very sweaty and my stomach twisted into a big knott. I knew I was wrong but I kept confident on the outside.
