Some people think of them as animals. Some people think of them as objects. Some people think of them as friends. Then there are the few who think of them as family. Horses have always been like family to humans, except sometimes closer. There are many benefits to owning or being around horses. They come in many different colors. There is a multitude of breeds, also. Additionally, they have a long history with humans. Horses have unique behaviors. Showing horses has been the past-time or even career of many people. Furthermore, caring for horses can be a handful, but is definitely rewarding. Finally, riding horses is not just a hobby or a sport, but an action of your heart. Horses are wondrous creatures that have lived with man or thousands of years. Horses are not just beasts to take care of, there are benefits to owning them, riding them, or even just being around them. You will of course learn to love horses, and they will probably love you, too, if you treat them kindly. Similarly, you learn the responsibility of being around horses and how to take care of them properly. Also, you can have pride in you or your horse's accomplishments, your riding skills, or knowing how to be around horses and having experience with them. If you are around horses, you have much to tell and share! There is, literally, a rainbow of colors horses come in. Some of the most common colors are bay (brown with black legs, mane, and tail), brown, chestnut (a subdued golden red color), black, and gray (darkish white). Some of the less common are palomino, liver chestnut (dark chestnut), bright chestnut (a very bright golden red color), pinto (piebald being black and white and skewbald being brown or tan and white), dun (tan with black legs, mane, and t... ... middle of paper ... ... have a crop (small whip) or peg spurs. Both of these do not hurt the horse, but are uncomfortable, so they know they are doing something wrong. In conclusion, horses mean more to me than many other things. They are part of my friends and family, but I also have great respect for them. Horses are surrounded by benefits that make us feel exceptional. Their colors are all attractive. Their breeds are marvelous and unique. Their history with us is quite a beneficial relationship. Their behavior is different from ours, but is an easy language to learn. Showing horses is exhilarating! Caring for them can seem like a chore, but is actually an overall fun and propitious experience. Riding horses is fun and meaningful, not just something to learn or do just because. And, no matter what people say, I believe there is something truly special about my dear friend the horse.

The horse symbolizes many things, some being personal drive, passion, and an appetite for freedom. An appetite for freedom is the symbol that sticks out the most from the many. In the novel Bless Me Ultima many of the males spoke of freedom. Antonio’s brothers all wanted freedom. Horse breeds are based on general temperament. Spirited speed and endurance. Horses and humans intermingle in a wide variety of working activities such as police work, agriculture, entertainment, and therapy. Horses were historically used in warfare, from which a wide variety of riding. Many products are derived from horses, including meat, hide, and hair. Humans provide domesticated horses with food, water. and shelter. Horses are valued by humans in many ways and many forms of media such as Disney and the tale of Sprit, Hippotherapy, a form of rehabilitative therapy, and the tale of the Trojan horse. .

As centuries go on, men learned the ways of the horse and learned to ride upon their backs. They found them to be a key component in transportation, carrying goods, and warfare. As time went on, for every footprint of a human left behind in the wet mud, there was a hoof print not far from the footprint. Ancient Greeks believed that the horse was a gift from the gods, and they were greatly valued in their society.

I have always had a passion for animals. As a young child, I was convinced I constantly needed new animals, but we never had the space to care for them. In an effort to fill my desire to be involved with animals, my mom decided to sign me up for English horseback riding lessons. Although I never really believed I would enjoy English riding, I went to the horse barn about two times a week to practice. Over time, I learned to enjoy the sport and I created a bond with the horse I rode; he became my best friend. We went to competitions almost every single weekend and I won multiple awards. When my parents separated I had to stop competing. I was devastated to leave the behind the horse I had grown to love, however, I knew that this would not be the end of my future with animals.
Horses have evolved, in my opinion, for the better. They’re my favorite animal by far, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. They’re so kind hearted and are always there with a listening ear, and a hungry stomach. If horses had not evolved, then they would be completely useless to us. They wouldn’t be able to help us with farming and all the other stuff they’re known in history for. Think of how our history would be drastically changed by this catastrophic event? How would people have gotten around like they did, or fought in wars without their trusty steed by their side? We would be completely lost without their strength and speed. Horses truly were, and still are, mysterious creatures of the wild.
Horses are the most noticeable symbol in the whole book. Horses are a necessity to the boys. The horses are political and economic assets to Grady, Rawlins and Blevins. Specifically for John Grady, horses are more important to him than humans. He constantly dreams of him running with horses and always thinks about them. To Grady horses are like a way to distract him from all his problems and give him a sense of freedom because he does not have to worry about all the stress, problems, and people. Grady relates humans and horses stating that horses are superior to the human race. "Finally he said that among men there was no such communion as among horses and the notion that men can be understood at all was probably an illusion." (Page 111) Grady has a passion for horses. He tells the horses everything like his life story, his thoughts, and secrets. Since Grady does not trust humans he turns to the horses as an output. Grady’s love for horses reveals more about Grady himself. It makes Grady seem like a fairly lonely person because he only trusts horses and prefers horses over humans.
Horses are used for lots of things!One thing they are used for today is competing. Whether you are competing in horse sports or just competing to have fun. Another thing horses are used for today is pleasure riding. When I say pleasure riding I mean just going on a ride with your friends or just taking a break from whatever else you’re doing. In the past people used horses for pleasure riding, like we do today. We do not use them for farming as much as the people in the past did. Back when we didn’t have all the ostentatious technology for our armies to use, we used war horses. One thing that is identical between today and the past is using horses a lot, as they did in the past.
Training a horse to ride is hard work, it involves ground work, riding, and in both patience is very important. In the next few paragraphs I will be explaining the steps needed to train a horse.
The minute the horse starts to run just let loose, do not think about where the end destination or the time just enjoy the peaceful outdoors. A saying used to describe this, “sometimes you have to loosen the lead rope” and that is true. When riding loosen the rope and clear your mind and put the stress of everyday life to the side for a while. It feels like you are on top of the world, seeing things from a different perspective and looking at the bigger picture. Feeling weightless like a jet ski flying across the water floating on water, but instead on land and a horse is flying past everything. Each person experiences riding differently and depending on how the person feels when mounting their horse, will determine the quality of the ride.
