I have recently had bad experiences with my vehicle. I have been trying to get it up to par, buying new parts to try and make it run the way it should. I know it’s not a new car and I am well overdue for a upgrade, but I try to save money and do mechanical work for myself, I know I’m a girl, but I believe in my mind that I can make this happen. I have recently changed enough parts for the car to almost buy a better running vehicle. While attempting my seemingly impossible mission, I have realized the hard way that it is impossible to keep up with a car that has never been properly maintained. I do love my Chrysler cause it is a convertible and it’s always nice to put the top down when the Oklahoma weather permits it. But I know now to take better care of older vehicles so I don’t end up in this position again. I encourage anyone who has a love for older style vehicles as I do to do the same because the price of a mechanic is outrageous now days, and doing it yourself is unfortunately way harder than it seems. To maintain a vehicle is much easier to do regularly then to wait until a severe problem occurs, hence the motor mount. So please take my advice and keep a good scheduled maintenance on your vehicle, and maintain it. Because nobody likes opening up their wallet full of hard earned money to fix a problem that could have been easily fixed from the get go. Nothing is ever easy.” Garrett quickly grabbed a rag for the extremely hot muffler and a screwdriver from the toolbox. Branden and Garrett fired up their four wheelers and raced back into the field. Dalton had been waiting for what seemed like forever in the field with his four wheeler, hoping for Garrett and Branden to return quickly. Garrett had told him to stay put because he did not want anything else to fall off Dalton’s four wheeler. Dalton saw Branden and Garrett off in the distance approaching him like two cowboys on the horizon. Dalton got off his four wheeler and walked to the back of the engine where he once again looked down to see the damage. Garrett had to look around in the field for the muffler, but eventually he found it about one hundred feet from where Dalton’s four wheeler was stopped. Garrett grabbed the muffler using the rag because they had been riding for about an hour and they did not want to get burned by the hot muffler. Branden used the screwdriver as a makeshift bolt but it did not work because when the four wheeler would hit a bump, the screwdriver would come out making the muffler fall off again. Garrett eventually had to carry Dalton’s muffler on his four wheeler and try not to burn himself in the process. When I turned twenty-two I was excited to purchase my first car, I had been saving for 5 years in order to obtain the car of my dreams. I knew exactly what I wanted, all the “bells and whistles”, and I knew exactly what I was willing to pay and not a penny more. I thought I had a strong knowledge of the sales and pricing of the particular car I was hoping to buy, because I had done my research for weeks browsing and comparing the Sunday car ads. I was assured that my knowledge of the sales would get me a fair price and a great deal. In the automotive world you normally get what you pay for. Dealerships are expensive, just about everywhere is, but maybe they are for a reason. I have since learned that reason, but I realize it is difficult for other people to see it. I do not understand how you justified that the quality or your car is somehow “worth” what you paid, but to fix it quality just is not important, the “worth” part disappears?
In my family we have been blessed in having nine cars, most of which are classic cars. The two cars I had to pick from was a 1978 Chevy Camaro Z28 or a 1988 Pontiac Formula Firebird. The only catch was that neither one was a finished car. Bither were torn apart for restoration. The camaro we had been working on, but still needed lots of work. The firebird on the other hand we had just bought from a junkyard in Little Rock AR. I took into consideration that they would both need a lot of work but we didn’t know how much was needed. Both cars had manual transmissions, good handling, good looks, horsepower, AC, but both didn’t have the best fuel economy. The Camaro got 16 mpg while the Firebird got 20 mpg. Both cars had a good amount of part availability but we had three Firebirds so we had way more parts for it.
