I have often wondered what it is that makes me who I am. The person the I’m today is way different from couple years ago. I have come to the awareness that change can be the deepest of all things. The emotion that change my life are my Hometown Sana’a, my passion for soccer and my older Brother.
The first reason that changed my life is my hometown Sana’a. It is the capital city of
Yemen and I been living there for most of my life. It is so beautiful that when you wake up in the morning. The second reason that changed me is My passion for soccer. My passion for soccer change mostly my attitude toward other people. This sport changed my attitude because I used to love this sport so much and I used to play it with older people. I used to play every day and I became descent with this sport and that's why I used to play with them. When I used to play with younger players I used to be aggressive and mean to everyone and I would do anything to win the game. When I played with the older one my attitude starts to change. The older players were playing the game fairly and with respect and they did not care who win the game. The only care about is to have fun during the game. As more and more I played with them my attitude started to change. Only one year playing with older players I was completely different person.

One incident that happened to me that change how I thought about sports was when I first started playing soccer. It all started when my mom said that I should join a sport to get me more active. It took me awhile to choose soccer at first because there were so many sports to choose from. I told my mom I wanted to play soccer. She signed me up to play for a non competitive league (GYSA) so I can learn the basics of the sport. She also told me to play I would have to maintain good grades. After hearing that i always tried my best in soccer and school.
While I was in high school, I joined the soccer team. There were 15 girls in a team. There were three girls, whose last name was Lepcha. Who think that they play better soccer then everybody in a team and they do play well but not good as they thought they were. They had started playing soccer for one or two years ago. There were two other girls, whose name was Sabina and Dilu. They were my best friends. My one friend Sabina had played soccer for quite long and she played well but she did not have an attitude as Lepcha did. My second friend was Dilu; she was not that good at soccer. It was her first time playing soccer just like me. I do not know other people who were on a soccer team but the one thing I know about them was that it was their

The special event that changed my life was deciding to play basketball because basketball helped me find peace, happiness and gave me identity. The important event that transformed my life is coming to the United States of America to get education and to study. When I first arrived in this country, I comprehended that an incredible change would happen in my life both mentally and physically. After living more than one year in the United States, I definitely believe that moving to the United States is an advantageous change for me. Growing up in El Salvador, soccer was a sport that significantly impacted my childhood. My cousins and uncles taught me how to play soccer, as well as various techniques that would later benefit me on the soccer field. At the age of seven I started to play for one of most well-known soccer clubs in El Salvador. Practicing twenty three hours a week was really paying off, as I could see in my medal and trophy gain. Life is full of experiences that have different effects on people. We as people have the chance to learn from our experiences. Although some experience can have negative effect on people, they can also have inspiriting results. My life changed when my parents decided to migrate to the United States of America for a better life. Having to leave ones native country at a young age and moving to a new country with a new language can have profound impact on people’s lives. As for myself, I have changed in several ways since I came to the United States.
I learned about the very nature of people. People are kind hearted, they want friendships and relationships just as much as I do, if not more. They want relationships and friendships that make the time spent together more enjoyable. Whether or not you are their opponent, whether or not you are put up against them in a competition, in breaks in that competition they want to be friendly, to have a relationship. This was the case with most of my opponents through the years, I learned more about sports and that the people playing them, are people too, with feeling and emotions, they are caring people.
Throughout my life certain events have shaped the person I have become today. The most relevant point to this change was the when I stood up for myself and said no to playing football like everyone wanted. This decision led to a split in the relationship with my dad, as well as a source of enemies in school, but I was proud of myself for doing what I wanted. I grew up in a small town in a large county. My dad was known by almost every person in the town, either through work or his work with the high school athletics program.
In my life a lot of things have converged together to make me who I am today. Some were expected and some weren’t. How we respond to what happens to us, is what makes us who we are. I have been active in many different things so far in my life, each of which have changed me.
I never knew what to expect when I was going to watch the games. Would there be goals? Would there be controversy? Would the team I wanted to win succeed? Would it be a close game fought down to the wire? I guess that’s why I love this time every four years.
The sports of today have changed the way the players play the game. Starting on the professional sports level, bad sportsmanship behaviors, like the use of steroids or "throwing" a game or a match in an effort to please the sports gambler trying to get their big pay-off, has trickled down through the college level and even down to the high school level. One person recalls the days when athletes played their sport for the love of the game, because it is what they lived for. They remember when they were younger, sitting in their grandfather's lap and watching the Atlanta Braves (in the days of Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, Glenn Hubbard and other great names in Braves history) running out on the diamond every game. In fact, they quoted country artist, Collin Raye, saying [I've been] "a Braves fan even through the rotten years". Watching these games, they remember looking up at their grandfather’s face and seeing the look he had in his eyes by watching these guys play their sport from the heart. Now, years later, sports have been threatened by strikes. The athletes playing now aren't playing because they love to, but now it's more about the money and how much they can make. Sports of today are tainted and don't come from the heart. The kids today need to be taught what it was like "in the good ole' days" and how playing sports teaches an individual about how to work with other people and how to pull together as a family.
Sportsmanship matters not only in sports, but also in the rest of our everyday lives. In any competition, whether a job interview, a school science fair, or even a friendly game of cards with some friends, sportsmanship teaches you to win humbly and lose gracefully. Sportsmanship also helps us to understand each other better, because when we get along, we can listen to the other person's perspective, and see where they are coming from, and avoid a bad, possibly violent situation. Almost everyday on the news violence is reported at a sporting event, evidence of bad sportsmanship. Without sportsmanship there would be no sports, because no one would want to compete with a person who when they lost, would throw a fit, cry, and whine.
