In the book unbroken, Louie has to on a personal journey for the war and it impacted him drastically. What is a personal journey? One might ask. Well, a personal journey is when someone or thing goes on a journey and on that journey they meet friends and obstacles in their way. Also in the end of a personal journey, they change for the better or worse. It impacted Louie by making him get tortured and making him suffer. He got beat up everyday in the P.O.W camp, he witnessed many people die, and was malnourished. But when things were at his lowest, he found many miracles.

Firstly, A personal journey is when someone or something goes on a journey and on their journey they go along and meet allies and friends,they have struggles or obstacles,and they change (mostly in a good way) throughout the story. An example of a personal journey is in Unbroken. The main character, Louie Zamperini goes on a personal journey and his life changes dreadfully. When he had to go on a plane to Japan for a war, he met allies and friends, but soon it would go all wrong. His pilot crashed the plane. Only three people survived including himself. He had to live on a lifeboat for more than a month. His crewmates and him barely ate and had to fight off many sharks. They once got attacked by japanese pilots also. It clearly states in the text “The bird jerked his belt off,grasping the end with both hands, he swung it back, then whipped it forward like a baseball bat, straight into Louie’s temple.” This quote shows that his journey had downsides. To support that he had some upsides, it states “it was a promise thrown to god. If you save me, i will serve you forever.” This quote is relevant to what i am presenting because he did get saved.
