The practice interview was by far the best feedback I have ever had! In this one short thirty-minute interview I was able to learn so much about myself. There is so much apprehension that proceeds with interviewing regardless the type. My initial thought of having to go on an actual practice interview was nonessential and of course this supposition was inaccurate.
My overall experience was significant and exceedingly meaningful. My initial thought as I sat down in the chair was how nervous I was. I was actually sweating this was a good indication that though this was a practice interview it was crucial that I took it seriously and I did. The very first nonverbal communication was eye contact. During the interviewer the interviewer very seldom lost eye contact. Upon entering the room and starting the interview the interviewer did not extend her hand so that we could handshake. Even though she was sitting at her desk she was still leaning in which showed that she was engaged in what I had to offer. She would also smile and nod when I spoke about certain situations. She also waited until the end of my interview until she evaluated me instead of doing that as we spoke. The verbal communication that was demonstrated by the interview was open questioning. She would ask question that would intentionally allow me to elaborate on them. She was effectively and actively listening because she would either ask another question that would allow me to expound on my answer or she would compliment my answer. When she spoke she used a pleasant tone. She also used written communication to convey the results of my interview. She was advising when she reviewed my resume critiqued it and added suggestions. I thought that the practice interview is extremely pertinent especially for students who will eventually be searching for jobs. I believe that this assignment allows students to get in the mindset of how serious interviews are. I also believe that this opens the door for students to learn about the other aspects that career services offers other than practice interviews such as helping students perfect their resume. The practice interview truly gives students the ideal interview that they will eventually experience once they start interviewing for jobs closer to their field of study. The practice interview helps reduce stress and anxiety. The constructive feedback is also preeminent they help familiarize some of the questions that may be asked in future interviews and help with responses. It also helps identify weakness that can be tweaked and perfected. Overall the practice interview should be required for future students because it builds the ability to perform well and boost
