After taking two years off from school to take care of my mom, my goal changed. Going back to school, I wanted a degree which I could find a job right when I get out of school and while waiting to get into pharmacy school. My choices of pharmacy schools were narrow down to in state schools only. I was lucky to be introduced to Health Care Management by a friend. Health Care Management sounded attractive to me because I always wanted to work in the health care field.
I never in my life did expect one day to be at my computer to write a scholarship essay and to write it in English! Fifteen year ago I was a typical Italian architecture student who truly didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grows up. That time of my life was spent to make my parents proud, and to have people talk about how great I was in my academic achievements. The truth is I wasn’t really happy about my college choice. Architecture was my dad’s dream.
I did not find anything about this class interesting. So the second I found out I could drop the class at midterm, that is exactly what I did. I stayed in the architecture class for the whole year because I enjoyed drawing up the blueprint of a house but no matter how much I enjoyed that artistic side of architecture I knew it was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So I told my built up the nerv... ... middle of paper ... ...ework not related to their major.” I know a relative of mine who went to college and decided that she was going to get a degree in psychology. She went the recommended years of school and got that degree.
CONTENT THE IMPORTANCE OF LIFELONG LEARNING The important key of lifelong learning was for individuals of all ages and holds an array of benefits for them and society. In fact, I was a good student, often earning honor roll and getting diplomas for having good grades. I moved back again to the United States in my junior year of high school, because my parents wanted me to go to college in the US. It wasn’t easy; I didn’t know anybody, I had to make new friends again, and I wasn’t familiar with the life over here. I only spoke a little bit of English, because I had spent many years taking classes in Spanish while in the Dominican Republic. To help me pick up the language again, I decided to take regular classes instead of english as a second language because I thought this strategy would help me learn more English and get accustom to the language.
He could not apply to the school of architecture as he had no high-school diploma. During the next 35 years of his live the young man never forgot the rejection he received in the dean's office that day. Many Historians like to speculate what would have happened IF.... perhaps the small town boy would have had a bit more talent....or IF the Dean had been a little less critical, the world might have been spared the nightmare into which this boy was eventually to plunge it. 2.World War 1 While living in Vienna Hitler he made his living by drawing small pictures of famous landmarks which he sold as post cards. But he was always poor.
It’s hard to believe that my incredible journey in English 208 has ended. The journey has been so much more amiable than I originally expected. I have tried to avoid taking English 208 numerous times because writing and study skills have not been my strong points. Every time I tried to take this course, I dropped it due to a meticulous instructor style, or a boring set of literary materials. This time around was different, as I set my goal to obtain my bachelor degree in Psychology by the end of fall next semester.
70). His birthplace of Salinas is of major importance to many of his novels. When used as a setting, it tends to put more importance towards the theme "the relationship between man and his environment." (Draper 3373). Steinbeck also continued to work as a lab assistant and field hand in order to pay for his tuition at Stanford University for six years, which was fruitless because he never aspired to receive a degree ("Steinbeck, John Ernst").
The knowledge I will gain from studying abroad will prepare me and propel me into my future career. I wish to become an international marketer and learn how to best market products and services to other countries. By studying abroad I will learn how to study other cultures, I will learn how to survive without my family, and it will lay the ground work in my life towards becoming an international marketer. Besides studying abroad, the program will also allow me to volunteer as an English tutor for adults, youth, and children. I look forward to this volunteer opportunity because it will give me more insight into the lives led by the people in Spain.
I have my major and track set, but what I want to do with is always changing. “Spanish” is a broad major; you can take so many directions with it as Spanish is present everywhere. I have wanted to teach Spanish for a while; however, I have developed different interests since then. So, a year and a half ago, I decided to get some advice and went into one of my favorite Spanish professor’s office hours. He was not trying to change my career plans entirely, but he brought up opportunities for me that I had not considered before, such as teaching English in Spain.
