Rick Riordan’s success came from just a child’s bedtime story, which turned out to be revolutionary for his career. He is known to be one of the best children's book writers in the world. His success slowly slowly started building up with each book he wrote, but it sky-rocketed when Percy Jackson was published. To Riordan, writing has always had a special place in his heart from the time he started school as a child to his hit book, Percy Jackson. Rick Riordan started his writing career at a young age. At around the age 12 or 13, Riordan had his mindset on becoming a writers and a teacher (Smith). “Percy Jackson connects with his readers on a personal level. He is the character who overcomes disabilities, his family dysfunctions, and the pang of teen angst” (Follos). Most teens reading the book will enjoy its content, due to their close relation to Percy, and their daily life struggles as a teenager. Although directed toward a younger audience, the novel can be be entertaining for adults as well. Even though Percy Jackson was his biggest success, Rick Riordan still wrote many other novels. Rick Riordan’s other works include The 39 Clues and many others. Scholastic published the first book of The 39 Clues series, The Maze of Bones, in 2008 (Larson). The Maze of Bones was the beginning of a long, successful series that Riordan oversaw and wrote the first book to. The 39 Clues series is a chronological series based on interconnecting together (Smith). This book is part of the 39 Clues series and is the first book which starts the series off with bang. The Maze of Bones was good, and many people loved it, but that does not compare to the popularity of the Percy Jackson
