Power to the people: finding voice in the face of corruption __________________________________________ After learning about the Holocaust, many choose to question how this horrible event in history could have happened. Why didn’t people fight back? Why didn’t anyone question the murderous methods of the ruthless leader, Hitler? After conducting multiple searches, I have found that many lacked the courage or believed they lacked the power to take a stand in the midst of the horror. Hitler and his group of power hungry minions gained power by taking lives and stealing the possessions of the innocent, robbing them of their previous time of happiness and sending them to confront death in concentration camps. How do I find MY voice? There are many key steps to finding and understanding your own unique voice, and it takes much time to finally come to a conclusion on what your views are. “People are internally motivated by their own four needs: to live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy. When they overlap, you have voice-your calling, your soul’s code,” Dr. Stephen R. Covey states. when asked if finding voice is something that happens all at once, he replied, “I think that it can happen all at once, but more so, I think it is an evolving process. As people grow up, they are exposed to different fields of knowledge and different experiences. They don’t yet know what they’re good at or even what they will like doing. Once they have this exposure and education and they start getting involved, they start to find satisfaction, and that leads to success as it begins to give them a sense of their voice or what they really love doing that they do well. For some people, it does comes like a flash of light, but it is usually preceded by someone who really deeply believes in them-sees their strengths and affirms them when they don’t
