Importance of health and wellness in modern society Wellness as a concept though looks modern was much rooted in U.S and European lifestyle, while it was not so looked after in rest of the world. But in the ancient civilizations of Rome, Greece and Asia, wellness beliefs were found to have existed.
Wellness is defined according to World Health organisation, “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.
Travelers were encouraged by a wish to improve health and well‐being (Voigt, C. et.al, 2010). Wellness tourism is important for the wellbeing of people in the modern society.

People wanted to escape their daily routine and desire to rejuvenate through wellness activities because of increased fast pace of routine life and high stress levels among the workforce in industrial nations had popularized the pursuit of leisure activities that contribute to health and well being through tourism. Tourists motivated by the factors, which influenced the growing demand for wellness tourism include high cost, long waiting time, quality of care and some special services not available in their home country.
