The Oregon standoff is a conflict that consist of the ranchers, lead by Ammon Bundy and the federal government, or more specifically the Bureau of Land Management after a disagreement among public land rights. The tension of this issue initially started with the rancher, Cliven Bundy, who refused to acknowledge the grazing fines of the federal government. However, the last string occurred with Dwight Hammond, Jr., 73, and his son Steve, 43, who were convicted of federal arson indictment from fires on federal land in 2001 and 2006. The activist were infuriated by the re-sentencing of the rancher, which portrayed them as terrorist, which lead the protesters to Burns, Oregon for a rally. While the history is complicated, the job of the Bureau of Land Management Federal agency or BLM is simple. First founded in 1946, with the intent to administer over 245 million surface acre of public land and maintain health, diversity, and productivity of America’s land for Nguyen 2 future generations, it has slowly helped preserve the land. Regulating the land from overgrazing through means of federal land permits and fines. Its goal was to limit the amount of overused land to sustain the land’s productivity, which it has done quite well with the assistance of their Resource Management Plan or RMP. The RMP consist of : Allocate resources and determine appropriate multiple uses for the public lands. Develop a strategy to manage and protect resources. Establish systems to monitor and evaluate status of resources and effectiveness of management practices over time. While tensions have remained high, the requirements for the ranchers lead by Ammon Bundy have remain stagnant (stated above). A way to which this conflict may be resolved peacefully even though I believe the government is correct, is to comply with the rancher’s demand. While monitoring focuses on the activities and outputs, evaluation focuses on the outcome and goals. Monitoring focuses on inputs and outputs and is the continuous process of gathering information to measure against the goals and objectives. Evaluation, like monitoring, is a continuous process. Evaluation provides feedback on whether plans have been met and the reasons for success or failure. Evaluation should highlight shortcomings so they can be identified and corrected. It should provide direction for future plans. It is important to monitor and assess the on-going performance of teams and individuals, in order to evaluate the progress towards agreed objectives. Monitoring mostly involves keeping track of what is going on. By undertaking this regularly, we have the opportunity to make changes and adjustments, to ensure that any areas of concern are addressed.

The incident in Ruby Ridge took three lives- his wife, his son, and a deputy. After this tragic event laws were changed due to what happened at Ruby Ridge. Ruby Ridge was an event that changed many people's views on the government and the brute force that occurred.

Milagro is a small agricultural town located in the hot arid state of New Mexico. Joe Mondragon, a man of his mid 30's, provided for his wife and two kids. He was a farmer, but a farmer with no fields. During the 1935 Interstate Water Compact, much of the water was transferred to big-time farmer's fields, like Ladd Devine. This would not have been a problem except for the fact that Joe's field was located on the west side of Milagro and all of the water flowed to the southeast side. All of the people of Milagro were unhappy about this change, but no one would say or do anything that would oppose the Devines. One day, Joe had had enough and tapped into the water supply. He knew that watering his father's field would cause problems, but he didn't care. Day after day Joe worked in his fields, preparing them for harvest. People from all the town gathered each day to watch Joe work. While Joe worked on his fields, the Devines worked on a plan to get rid of him. They did not like the idea that Joe Mondragon, a simple farmer, had not conformed to their ways. The Devines involved several various people in order to get rid of Joe, but all of these people could not stop Joe from obeying his morals. Bernabe Montoya, the Milagro town sheriff, and Sheriff Kyril Montana, a government officer, were assigned the duty of arresting Joe. They worked hard and diligently to arrest him, but time after time, they failed.

The issue has been taken place in Harney County where citizens are tired of this pointless standoff interfering with their daily lives. This has been a long and confusing month for all the county. The Bundy family comes out of nowhere with many supports claiming they are fighting for the rights of the people and protecting the Hammond family. The Hammond family has no ties with the Bundy family and since the standoff began they have been distancing themselves from the standoff.
