My prior education and experience has prepared me for an online graduate program because I have been fortunate enough to have the experience of learning in the classroom and through an online degree program. While attending Westside High school I had my first experience with online education. When I was a junior in high school, the school began to implement submitting homework and doing some classwork online through Blackboard portal. This was a change, but I was able to adjust easily. During the time of my Associates Degree in Nursing program I was able to attend my courses in the classroom at Metropolitan Community College. Learning in the classroom offered me the ability to ask questions for clarifications or to review material with my professors at that current time. After receiving my Associates Degree in Nursing I enrolled into the University of Texas Arlington’s academic partnership program. This program was 100% online and no classes were taken on campus. At the beginning of the program it was an adjustment because I had to make sure to pay close attention to submission dates on the course syllabus since my courses were continuous and multiple assignments …show more content…

This caused some of my grades to suffer. Through this experience with my online undergraduate nursing program I have learned that organization is a must, how to work better under pressure, and to not procrastinate. I have also learned to ask for help with any questions, communicate with peers, and utilize all resources provided to me. I have gained the knowledge that there are many resources for online students just like there are for students who choose to learn in the classroom.
