I am the first-born child in my family and I have two younger sisters. There are some pros and some cons about being the oldest sibling. Of course you are allowed more than than your younger siblings, but you also have to fight for things while your siblings just get them. You always have somebody to play with or tease but on the other hand, if your younger siblings do something they’re not allowed to do you still are most likely to be blamed. And while it’s really nice to have somebody to take care of most of the time it can get really annoying, especially when you have to help them with their homework. Although it is nice to be the oldest, I would rather be a last-born child, because I would have older siblings that could help me with everything
There are other factors that impact each sibling such as physical circumstances that include income of the parents and the residents of their community. Emotional stability plays a large part in the development of each person, examples include well adjusted parents, parental experiences and the career of the parents. For instance, what decade and country you were born in and the economy of that country also plays an important role. All of these factors can determine what type of person that child will become. In a large part, birth order and gender determine how other people in your family react and treat you. It also determines your self-image and how you react and treat others inside and outside of your family.
The way one determines their place in the family seems like it should be easy, but because of many factors, it is not always clear. In a family with a first born daughter and a second born son, the son may also take on characteristics of a first born because he is the first born male. It is true that my brother is still the younger sibling and even at the age of 17 he is still receiving all the perks of being the baby. However, my parents are beginning to buckle down again, and crack down on his bad behavior around the home. As a result I see him getting in more trouble now then he did as a kid. Of course I do wonder if the trouble he is getting into now even impacts him because he has grown out of his formative years. I guess only time will tell.

As a big sister, I get to see my siblings grow up and follow my examples. I also get to boss them around of course. I never thought of what it would be like to have 2 younger siblings. I thought that I would forever be the baby. Things evidently change.
Perhaps I grew up faster than most, but these “oldest child” characteristics have established the woman I am today: responsible, confident, and ready to set a respected example. I am well aware of who is watching me and I am blessed to have such accountability. I am more than just the oldest of six children. I clear the path for my siblings in hopes that they learn from my illustration. I still have a five year plan. The Other Sister is about a family with a sibling that has a developmental disability also known as mildly mentally retardation (MMR), mild developmental disability, or mild intellectual disorder (MID). Carla Tate is our main character that has MMR as a disability. She is a young women, twenty-four years old, with a slender but beautiful appearance. Carla has just graduated from a special education boarding school and is returning home to her family. Carla’s mother (Elizabeth Tate) is overbearingly protective, does not appreciate all of the abilities that Carla has acquired. Her father (Bradley Tate) is a recovering alcoholic who is sympathetic and supportive of Carla, who at the same time has to deal with his domineering wife. Carla has two sisters Heather (who happens to be a lesbian) and Caroline (who is planning a wedding). Carla’s sister quickly bond again upon Carla’s return. They are supportive of Carla and her abilities.
My siblings are my heart; I could not imagine what life would be without them. However, other days I honestly wish they would disappear. My annoying little sisters always irritate me, pulling my hair and screaming at the top of their lungs in my room. If my sibling acts inappropriately that not only reflects on my parents but for me as well. I am supposed to lead by example if there serving in an inappropriate manner I am obviously doing something wrong. Even if my siblings irritated me for the rest of my life, I would not care I want my carry that responsibility as an older brother. I can always remember wanting a baby brother or sister. I would ask my mother all the time if she could have a baby. I wanted to have someone else I could play with and teach things. She would always say no. But long and behold, when I was four years old I found out I was going to be a big sister. I was so happy and excited and it felt like my mom was pregnant forever.
