Former NFL Star, Heisman trophy winner, Orenthal James Simpson, better known as O.J. Simpson, has a lengthy history of encounters with law enforcement. He was incarcerated when he was fifteen for gang related fighting (“O.J. Simpson” Contemporary). In 1989 he pleaded no contest to beating and threatening to kill Nicole Brown, his wife at the time, and faced minimal consequences (Mydens). In 1995, after a yearlong criminal trial, he was acquitted of the murder of Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, and later found liable for the murders in a civil case in 1997. His final account with the law, that defined his destiny, was in 2007 when he was arrested in Las Vegas on ten felony charges. and Brian Kaelin, who lived in Simpson’s guest house, went to get McDonald’s, shortly after 9pm on the night of June 12th. O.J. had arranged to leave on a flight to Chicago at 11:45 the same night in order to attend a Hertz event the next day. At 10:25 O.J.’s limo driver arrived twenty minutes early to pick him up for his flight. After buzzing the intercom multiple times, at 10:40 the limo driver drove around to the gate of O.J.’s house, but did not see any vehicles in his driveway. At 10:50 the limo driver paged his boss to let him know nobody was home. The driver saw Kaelin, who came from the backyard with a flashlight investigation three loud noises he had heard while he was in his room, Kaelin waved at the driver but did not open the gate. The driver then saw a dark person walk into the house through the front door, and shortly after the lights on the first floor came on. At 10:56 the driver buzzed the intercom again, only this time O.J. answered it and said, “Sorry, I overslept and I just got out of the shower. I’ll be down in a minute.” Finally, O.J. left in the limo at 11:15 and got on his flight to Chicago at 11:45
