Healthcare science is not only about treating patients but about the relationship and care you would give them in order to help them feel comfortable and valued. The satisfaction of helping someone and making a difference to a person’s life is gratifying. In terms of my personal qualities, I feel that I am best suited to a role in healthcare as I have a calm and caring approach. I have good communication and teamwork skills developed through multiple opportunities that I have taken on. I would like to study this course as I believe that I can pursue a very rewarding career in this field. The modules for the course interest me as there are a variety of topics taught, such as the theory and practice of assessment and rehabilitation. I like the fact that you are constantly gaining and developing new skills through placement opportunities that will help me become more comfortable working in this environment. The nursery nurse staff said that I was a credit to the team and the children enjoyed having me there. This experience has made me aware that I enjoy working with and helping others, especially children. Setting up activities adapted to various children has allowed me to cater for their needs as all children are different. Due to this experience, I am interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, specialising in paediatrics. Becoming a sixth form prefect has helped me to gain confidence and provided the opportunity to support students of different age groups and backgrounds. The skills I have learnt whilst being a prefect will help me in the future as I have gained good people skills and can interact with different types of people more comfortably.
