Before 10,000 B.C. humans were hunters and gatherers. The discovery of planting and the domestication of animals , was a major turning point in history. This discovery is referred to as the Neolithic Revolution. This discovery lead to population increase, spare time to be creative, along with the forming of towns and later cities. The Neolithic revolution was the main contribution to all of humans cultural, social and political achievements.
Before humans learned about the domestication of animals and plants they were nomadic. During this time, people followed their food. This lead to people not having time to create and reproduce. As humans learned how to plant crops they were able to settle down and start families, towns and later on cities.

Many people question whether the transition from nomads to settlements was a positive or negative impact in human history. The transition brought upon; population increases, lack of crucial vitamins, various diseases and even deforestation. I believe that the Neolithic Revolution was a negative impact on humans because of all the risks that came with it. Before the Revolution people were happily living a nomadic lifestyle. Agriculture helped form cities and civilizations, and because crops and animals could now be farmed to meet growing demand, populations skyrocketed from around five million people 10,000 years ago, to more the more than seven billion people that walk this earth today.1
Around 12,000 B.C., human beings in Asia moved north in search wooly mammoths and made their way across the Bering Straight to Alaska. Over the next several hundred years, they made their way to the Great Plains where they hunted huge mammals to the point of extinction. During the Archaic Period (9000 B.C. 1000 B.C.), bands of hunters moved constantly from one area to another in constant search of a suitable food supply. By 1000 B.C. the first sedentary communities were developed near rich fishing areas along the coasts and large rivers. Sedentary people created complex mound communities along the Mississippi River and in the Ohio Valley. When improvements in corn reached the land north of the Mexican desert, there was a marked boom in sedentary city development. Corn cultivation influenced peoples' religions and improved their health, helping to spawn a population growth after 800 A.D. These urban centers declined in the 13th and 14th centuries because of warfare, soil exhaustion and the disruption of inter-regional trade. In Europe, forces of social change were creating unrest; unrest which would prompt hundreds of people to explore the Atlantic Ocean and reshape the relationship between peoples of the world.

As the people of this time began to settle down and they began to both farm the land and domesticate animals for the better of the community. Along with the development of these communities as for the first time began to create social class among the many different roles they played in their community. Because the people of this time no longer roamed around some of the first signs of technology began to appear around this time as well.
When the first people come to the Americas, they relied heavily on wild animal and plants. They are usually in small groups hunting and foraging. These people learned to use tools made from stone and wood. They also invented spear, the bow and arrow to make their hunting more sufficient. However, as the people continue to hunt and gather wild food, food becomes limited. People turned to agriculture, people began to domesticate crops and animals. These changes allowed these people to settle in one place rather than constantly moving around to find food sources. Since, people don’t have to spend hours and hours to find food, they have more time to spare. More time to spare allowed them to create thousands of artistic arts and architecture . As agriculture continued to rise, more food were available, the population increase drastically. Cities were formed and the system of government was also set up. Social class also was formed. The leaders of Indian tribes were usually the most wealthiest.Unlike many European countries, Native women were well respected, in some tribes, they were given the power in making the decisions.
The blessing and curse of the Agricultural Revolution is advocated with its augmentation and dissemination. This new age began around 9,000 B.C.E. by the development of agriculture in the region surrounding the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and what is commonly referred to as “The Fertile Crescent” located in West Asia.1 The very development of agriculture had benefited humans by no longer having to move about in search of wild game and plants. Unencumbered by nomadic life humans found little need to limit family size and possessions and settled in a single location for many years. One negative aspect of this settling is that the population increased so much so that wild food sources were no longer sufficient to support large groups. Forced to survive by any means necessary they discovered using seeds of the most productive plants and clearing weeds enhanced their yield.2 This also lead humans to develop a wider array of tools far superior to the tools previously used in the Paleolithic Period or Old Stone Age. The spread of the Agricultural Revolution in the Neolithic Period also cultivated positive aspects by creating connections with other cultures and societies.
