For thirteen years I have played the game of hockey. I have played hockey for more years in my life than I have without playing hockey, yet my career and favorite activity will soon come to an end. I have played with many different teams and many different players in my hockey career and I made sure to make memories with each and every moment. I have some of my best memories, as well as my worst while traveling for and playing hockey. Some teams have been great as well as the players, but the past three years have been the most memorable of them all. I started playing for the Des. Honestly, I can’t remember many of the great games or nice plays that our team has made, but I do remember so much from team bonding. I love the sport of hockey, but the locker room, team activities, and bus trips are what I’ll miss most with the ending of my hockey career. The thought of not lacing up my skates anymore does not seem as bad as the thought of never again experiencing that bond between teammates and the brotherhood that comes with being on the team. We are more than a team; we are a family. As cliché as that might be, it’s true. Spending seven months together, practicing every day, and the three years that I have spent with the seniors now provides great opportunities for friendships and bonds that last forever. Although I know we will all go our separate ways eventually, I know that everyone that has stepped foot in that locker room has felt the same feelings that I have and will understand when it is their time to give it all up. I have one year remaining, and although it is the scariest thing to me, I am ready. I will cherish every moment of my senior season and leave no regrets.
